Welcome

Street trees are an important asset to the urban environment providing a range of benefits that are vital to Lehi City's quality of life. Without street trees, the city is a sterile landscape of concrete, brick, steel, and asphalt. Picture the City of Lehi without any trees and you see a pretty grim picture. We want the trees you plant today to be here for the future. Therefore, a tree-planting permit is required to encourage the right tree in the right place to,1) Maximize all of the tree benefits they provide, 2) Protect public safety, 3) Maximize diversity of species to reduce pests populations if they arise, 4) Help promote the long term survival and healthy of your trees, and 5) Reduced possible future conflicts with infrastructure and utilities. Final verification of street tree species and planting sites requires approval from Lehi City Parks Department to advise applicant of possible elements that have a bearing on street trees and to help reduce possible future conflicts that may cause your tree to be removed.

    TREE SELECTION

The purpose of this section is to help you choose a species of tree that best fits the area where you are planting. Before continuing, you must have a species and variety of trees chosen.

Example would be a Spring Snow Crabapple (Latin name is Malus 'spring snow' and the species is Crabapple or Malus. The variety would be Spring Snow.)

If you haven't chosen a species yet, you can find helpful guides and links on our Tree Selection page and come back to fill out the permit.

If you are considering installing a water-wise landscape in the park strip, please be aware that your choices of shrubbery may also cause future conflicts when they are mature. The forestry ordinances apply to all vegetation in a park strip area that matures at 24 inches high or less.
