LIFEPOINT PATHFINDER CLUB POLICIES
Purpose of Pathfinders
1) Lead its members into a growing, redemptive relationship with God
2) Build its members into responsible, mature individuals
3) Involve its members in active, selfless service
Fees
Registration fee is $40 per pathfinder. There will be additional fees for other activities of which we will notify you in advance.
Club Meetings
Meetings are Saturdays 3:30-6:00 p.m. at LifePoint Christian Fellowship. Pathfinders are expected to be punctual, so please ensure that they arrive and are picked up on time.
Your child’s safety is important to us and for that reason we have implemented a sign in/sign out procedure. You must come in to sign in and sign out your pathfinder at every meeting.
Attendance and Participation
Regular attendance is necessary for a successful program. Pathfinders that are absent may not be able to complete projects, honors or Investiture Achievement requirements. They also miss information and important announcements. Attendance at non-meeting events is also important. All Pathfinders are expected to participate in service projects, fundraisers and field trips. Pathfinders must attend the meeting immediately prior to a campout/activity to participate in that campout/activity.
Uniforms and Dress Code
Uniforms are required for all meetings and events unless otherwise specified by the Pathfinder director.
Class D uniform is required for meetings, campouts, and activities.
Class D uniform includes club t-shirt, pants or modest length shorts, closed-toe shoes.
We have elected not to use the Class A uniform at this time.
The registration fee includes the club t-shirt.
Modesty in dress at all club activities and events is required. No bare midriffs, spaghetti straps or low-cut shirts, no high-cut shorts, no low-riding pants. The club shirt must not be modified in any way.
Parent Volunteers and Family Involvement
When working with pathfinders in any capacity, all volunteers including parents must complete the Sterling Volunteers certification as mandated by the Florida Conference of SDA.
When assistance is needed by the pathfinder staff, one parent per family may be permitted to attend a campout or activity.
Non-pathfinder children are not permitted on campouts but may be permitted to attend other events with prior authorization of club co-directors.
Electronics Policy
LifePoint Pathfinder Club does not allow any electronic devices including cell phones at any club event, meeting, activity or campout.
If a pathfinder is found breaking this policy the item will be confiscated and returned to the parent at the end of the event. If a pathfinder breaks this rule twice, the consequences will be the loss of special event privileges for the next event. After that, breaking this rule again will result in loss of special event privileges for the year.
We understand that many pathfinders carry cell phones with them at all times. When the pathfinder arrives at meetings and events, at the pathfinder sign in/sign out area there will be a place for them to check in their electronics upon arrival and check them out at departure.
LifePoint Pathfinder Club and the pathfinder staff are not responsible for the condition or safety of any electronic devices left in their possession.
If the parent needs to get in touch with their pathfinder during any pathfinder event they can always contact the directors.
Please notify the staff if your pathfinder requires a cell phone for medical purposes. In this event, the pathfinder must not use the device for anything other than its medical purpose.
Conduct Policy
Good conduct is an essential facet of pathfinders.
Each pathfinder is required to read and sign the Pathfinder Code of Conduct in the membership application. This code reflects the qualities that are expected of each member. If a pathfinder breaks this code, a suspension of privileges may result up to expulsion depending on the severity or repeat nature of the offense, at the discretion of the staff.
Our discipline procedure is the following:
Step 1 Warning
Step 2 Separated from group for 5-10 minutes
Step 3 Taken to director
Step 4 Director will bring issue to parents to discuss further action
Step 5 If misbehavior is severe and/or continuous, suspension from club activities for a week or more may be necessary
The pathfinder and parent will be notified if a suspension is necessary and for how long the suspension will last.
No bullying, hazing, put-downs, or pranks are allowed at any pathfinder event.
Participating in off-campus events is a privilege and any pathfinder not displaying behavior in accordance with the code of conduct will not be permitted to attend off-campus events with the club. If a pathfinder demonstrates problematic behavior while at an off-campus event the parent will be notified and required to pick-up the pathfinder at that time.
