It’s 2021. Ann-Marie Bartels, now retired, and her husband, Tony, are finishing packing their suitcases, eager to set off on their first post-retirement adventure together.
“Tony, I am so excited to see where we are going that I could just ! I told our travel agent, , that we want to go on a cross-country tour to see Sandhill Cranes, a circus and the northern lights, but to surprise us with the rest.”
Just then, pulled up outside in a to take the happy couple to the airport. “Put on your blindfolds, Ann-Marie and Tony,” said , “you are in for one surprise!”
“Wow,” said Ann-Marie after what seemed like endless hours on the plane. “We must be heading to Alaska first to see the northern lights, then working our way back home. My is getting from sitting so long.”
Finally, the plane landed. As Ann-Marie and Tony look out the window they are met with skies, cold and feet of snow on the ground. Looking at a sign outside, Ann-Marie exclaims, “Tony, I think we’re in Siberia! Holy !”
After a call with who explains this was the only place they could see everything they wanted in one place, Ann-Marie and Tony decide to bundle up in their and make the best of their situation.
After eating lots of and recuperating from the jet-lag, they venture out to see the Sandhill Cranes. “What a sight,” Ann-Marie shouted in awe as she took lots of photos. Meanwhile, Tony ran around while one of the cranes tried to eat his .”
The next day they set out for the circus. As soon as they arrived the ring-master approached Ann-Marie. “Ann-Marie! We’ve heard so much about your ability to ! Will you be our special performer today?”
Ann-Marie was but graciously accepted. Not surprisingly, she was the star of the show. Everyone in the audience shouted and threw onto the stage in her honor. Afterward, Ann-Marie signed so many autographs her started to fall asleep while Tony chatted with her fans.
Finally, the end of the trip was near, and it was time to see the northern lights. After a snow-mobile ride, Ann-Marie and Tony cuddled up by a fire and watched in wonder as the sky turned , , and what seemed like a million other colors, too. “What a , perfect way to start this next chapter of our lives, Tony,” said Ann-Marie. “For our next trip let’s go to, .”
