  • How Our Scheduling Works

    • We have two different shift types at Paper;

    1. During classroom shifts you will be working with students, live in the Paper classroom (one-on-one sessions, but working with 1-3 students simultaneously). If you are verified as an essay reviewer, then during scheduled classroom shifts, when you have no students working with you, you would be reviewing student essays.

    2. During dedicated essay review shifts, you would not be working with students in the live Paper classroom! You would be scheduled to work solely on reviewing student essays.

    • Shifts are scheduled according to the topics you are able to tutor, your availability, and the expected demand on the platform.

    For example, let’s say you have selected BLOCK 1 (4 am-2 pm EST on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you do not want to work early mornings, you can select, for example, 8 am-2 pm, as this time falls within your selected availability block. Then, based on the expected platform demand, you might be scheduled from 8 am-2 pm or 830am-1:30pm or 8:30 am-1 pm, or 9 am-2 pm or 9:30 am -1:30 pm). You may be scheduled all or some days you have set this availability, or you may not be scheduled at all depending on the factors mentioned above.

    • Paper's classroom shifts are a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 8 hours in length.
    • Paper's essay review shifts are a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 5 hours in length.
    • The type of shift you are scheduled for is based on the topics you are able to tutor, your availability, and the expected demand on the platform.
      You should select one block per day.
    • Availability blocks are expected to be consistent (and only changed on consultation with Paper e.g. if your University class schedule changes in a new semester).
    • At certain times of the year (Summer and Christmas) there are reduced hours, and at other times (Finals season/start of semesters) there are increased hours!
    • Each week, you will be required to set your availability within your selected blocks through your Paper Tutor profile.
    • All blocks are in Eastern Standard Time (EST) but will appear on your profile in your local time. For example, if you are in PST and have Block 1 selected, you will see when you go to select availability that you are able to set availability between 1 am and 11 am PST (4 am-2 pm EST)

    Please select a minimum of 0
