  • Assistant director of alumni engagement

  • Position Summary
    The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement supports the strategy, programs, and relationships that strengthen the lifelong connection between alumni and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. The role serves alumni in multiple capacities, including advisor support, alumni association and affinity group service, and volunteer engagement. Core functions include identifying, recruiting, training, and supporting alumni volunteers and advisors; providing comprehensive service to alumni associations and interest groups; supporting province and regional councils; and collaborating with internal departments to advance shared organizational priorities. The Assistant Director plays a key role in cultivating a service-focused and sustainable alumni ecosystem.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    Advisor Identification, Recruitment, Training, and Support

    - Identify potential alumni volunteers and advisors through proactive outreach, collaboration with staff, and data-driven research.

    - Recruit and onboard new advisors, ensuring alignment with organizational values, expectations, and role requirements.

    - Develop and deliver advisor training programs, workshops, and online learning content to enhance advisor effectiveness.

    - Provide ongoing communication, guidance, and support to advisors to strengthen chapter and program success.

    - Maintain accurate records of advisor placement, training completion, and performance feedback.

     

    Alumni Associations & Interest Groups Support

    - Serve as the primary contact for alumni associations and affinity groups

    - Support these groups in executing annual goals, managing leadership transitions, and complying with fraternity policies

    - Assist groups with strategic planning, member engagement, and operational best practices

    - Develop and share tools, resources, and communication templates to enhance group sustainability and impact

    - Promote collaboration between alumni groups and collegiate chapters where appropriate

     

    Province Council Support

    - Provide service and support to province councils to ensure the fulfillment of their duties and roles

    - Facilitate communication between councils and the national organization, ensuring alignment on initiatives, priorities, and compliance.

    - Support the execution of regional events, conferences, and leadership programs.

     

    Cross-Departmental Collaboration

    - Work closely with departments such as Chapter Services, Risk Management, Communications, Membership and Records, and Education Programming, for cohesive alumni engagement strategies.

    - Partner with internal teams to produce marketing and outreach materials, develop engagement campaigns, and integrate alumni into organizational programs.

    - Provide alumni insights and feedback to inform organization-wide initiatives, strategic planning, and program development.

    - Represent the Alumni Engagement team on internal task forces and committees.

     

    Qualifications

    - Membership in Sigma Alpha Epsilon preferred.

    - Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.

    - Experience in alumni relations, volunteer management, fraternity/sorority life, or related fields.

    - Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.

    - Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.

    - Familiarity with CRM or volunteer-management systems preferred.

    - Occasional evening/weekend work and some travel required.
