Responsibilities as the Event Organiser
Glasgow Caledonian University is committed to providing a culture and environment which is inclusive of all sections of society and responsive to the needs of individuals by promoting equality, valuing diversity and communicating the importance of dignity at work and study. You will have a responsibility to ensure the External Speaker is familiar with the ethos of our university campus and specifically the GCU Dignity at Work and Study Policy and Students’ Association Equality and Diversity Policy.
By clicking the SUBMIT button you accept your responsibilities as the event organiser to ensure that any approved External Speakers are made aware of their responsibilities at the event and more generally in their individual/organisation's conduct and activities to abide by the law, the University and the Association’s various policies, including adherence that:
- They must not incite hatred, violence or call for the breaking of the law
- They are not permitted to encourage, glorify or promote any acts of terrorism including individuals, groups or organisations that support such acts
- They must not spread hatred and intolerance in the community and thus aid in disrupting social and community harmony
- Within a framework of positive debate and challenge, seek to avoid insulting other faiths or groups
You are not permitted to raise or gather funds for any external organisation or cause on campus without express advance written permission of the Head of Security, Resilience and Development (David.Halliday@gcu.ac.uk) or Chief Executive (chief.executive@GCUstudents.co.uk) for within the Students’ Association Building.
