CFP and CLU Professionals are Trusted Advisers - if you are actively providing financial advice
The Association acknowledges the professionalism of members who have chosen to gain and keep the pinnacle marks of CLU and CFP, therefore you are deemed to have met the Trusted Adviser criteria without any further questions.
For clarity, you are deemed compliant for as long as you hold an up to date Practising Certificate for your pinnacle mark as we respect that the conditions of the pinnacle marks are more stringent than those of the Trusted Adviser mark.
I declare that I am currently a financial adviser (or FAP) actively providing regulated financial advice to retail clients (directly or on behalf of a FAP) and not just involved in the process of giving advice.
As a Founding Member of Financial Advice NZ and a previous AFA, we already have enough information to know you meet most aspects of the criteria therefore we assume you will qualify as a Trusted Adviser. We only ask for you to confirm three aspects of the criteria as below.
Criteria: Have a Level 5 qualification in Financial Services, including the relevant strands for the advice areas provided, or a higher qualification recognised by Financial Advice NZ.
Criteria: Currently a financial adviser (or FAP) providing regulated financial advice to retail clients (directly or on behalf of a FAP) and has been providing advice for at least the last three years.
CONTINUED PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Criteria: Maintain an annual Professional Development Plan and attain a minimum of 20 hours relevant structured CPD every year.
Criteria: Attend an Association, or Association endorsed, Ethics in Financial Services three-hour workshop every three years.
Criteria: Be protected by appropriate Professional Indemnity Insurance, as expected of a professional.

All Trusted Advisers who haven't already told us they don't want to be on the public member directory on www.financialadvice.nz, will also be included in the Trusted Adviser directory on that website. Your name, firm, city, business phone, email, business website, designations and areas of advice will be shown publically.
