The National Junior Beta Club ~ Renaissance Middle School 2020 - 2021 Information Sheet & Application for Prospective Members

What is the BETA CLUB? The National Junior Beta Club is an honor organization that recognizes outstanding academic achievement, promotes strong moral character and social responsibility, encourages service to others, fosters leadership skills, and provides settings for you to develop strong interpersonal skills.

Who qualifies for membership in the RMS JUNIOR BETA CLUB?

Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grade students who maintains an A/B class average, who exemplifies strong character, and maintains role model behavior throughout the school year.

What are the requirements of membership?

Each member must have no more than three unexcused absences from our monthly meetings and participate in at least one club service project per semester. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in as many projects as possible since this is the key to leadership development within our organization.

What are the dues for members?

There is a one-time fee of $25 collected prior to induction. This includes a $15 national induction fee, and 15 local dues. Local dues are payable at the beginning of each year of membership and are used to pay for club expenses during the year. You may wish to explore the National Beta Club website at

How do I apply for membership?

Complete the attached application form and ask three teachers to complete the  recommendation forms.

Applications must be completed by November 9th, 2020. 

How will I know I have been accepted into the Beta Club?

Invitations for accepted students will be distributed on Friday September 20, 2019.

Directions: Complete all sections - please print legibly. Write your name and recommending teacher names on the next page and give the recommendation forms to your teachers. Give your teachers plenty of time to complete the form before the deadline. Please note that your completion of this form does NOT guarantee an invitation to membership. An A/B classroom average combined with faculty recommendations are the most important criteria for membership.

We recognize that you are in middle school and your list of activities and awards may be short at this point in your life; however, it is important for you to begin thinking about participating in activities that will demonstrate to others that you have potential for success. These activities should demonstrate strong moral character and scholarship, along with a service orientation, and leadership potential.

School Activities & Awards: List all school activities in which you have participated during elementary (6th Grade Only) and middle school. Include clubs, teams, musical groups, etc, and list major accomplishments in each. List any school awards that you have received.

Community Activities & Awards: List other activities (not listed above) in which you have participated. For example: religious groups, community athletic teams, non-school clubs such as Boy or Girl Scouts, other community organizations, etc., and list major accomplishments/awards in each.

 

 

 

 

I grant permission for the Beta Club Faculty Review Committee to review my progress/report card to determine if I maintained an A/B classroom average. I understand that upon review of my application and my teacher recommendations I MAY be given an invitation to join the Renaissance Middle School Junior Beta Club. I attest to the fact that I am a good role model to my peers and had no administrative referrals or periods in in-school or out-of-school suspension this school year.

I have read the information provided by my son/daughter on this form and can verify that it is true, accurate, and complete in its presentation. I understand that my son/daughter MAY receive an invitation to join the RMS Jr. Beta Club and that if he/she wishes to accept the invitation, that he/she must submit the $25 national and local dues prior to induction.
