Volunteer Role and Preferences

Judge. The role of the judge is to assess the depth of Constitutional and current knowledge from the students' presentations. Judges listen to a 4 minute prepared statement and then engage students in a six-minute follow-up question and answer period. Judges should be willing to engage and investigate students' existing knowledge as well as to guide additional thought provoking questions, thinking, and research. Preferences for Constitutional content will be asked below. Facilitator. The facilitator has multiple, essential roles. Facilitators will work with teachers, students, and judges to greet participants, move appropriate people in and out of waiting rooms, move judges in and out of breakout rooms, and generally help troubleshoot any issues as needed. Facilitators need to be generally comfortable with Zoom (or related technology). Zoom Room Helper. The Zoom Room Helpers will float between sessions to ensure facilitation is going smoothly, observe hearings, and help troubleshoot anything on the spot. Facilitators need to be comfortable using Zoom. Tabulation. Tabulation help will ensure we are tabbing efficiently and accurately. They will work behind the scenes with MCCE for tabbing the results and may also serve in additional capacities. Unsure/Other

Orientation Dates: MCCE will offer a series of orientations for virtual We the People processes. This is strongly recommended for new and returning volunteers. Please reserve one time slot to join us - either as facilitator or a judge. If you cannot make one of these times, please contact Ellen to schedule an individual orientation. If you don't know your calendar yet, no problem. We will reach out with a reminder closer to the competition.
