Volunteer Registration for Freezing Nights - Winter 2020

Join Life Restored Church as we bring the homeless community of San Antonio off the streets for warm meals and a warm slumber, during freezing nights this winter. Location will be announced a few days prior to the expected freeze.

We are getting ready to gear up for our city wide winter shelter for the homeless community of our city. We will be taking in 200 homeless overnight each day that it is below 32°. We have already secured a location that would accommodate this amount. Now we are looking for 100 volunteers. 10 volunteers from 10 churches or 10 organizations is all it would take to provide a life saving, life impacting experience for the homeless and those that are volunteering.

All Volunteers will be contacted the week that freezing nights are expected. We will place volunteers on call for that week, and will send a text to volunteers as soon as confirmation of a freezing evening is expected.

Volunteers will be provided with training and personal protective equipment. Those staying the night at the church will also be given personal protective equipment to be used.

Description of Roles

Intake- Responsible for gathering luggage, number luggage and place in storage area overnight.

Food Prep - Responsible for preparing food plates for homeless community and distribute warm meals and drinks. Dinner will be served at 6PM as people arrive.

Usher - Responsible for placing overnighters in designated sleeping spots.

Prayer Team / Fellowship - will spend time in prayer with those sleeping and staying at the church.

Overnight Crew - will be watchman for the evening and facilitate those staying overnight. Responsible to keep the peace.

Drivers/CDL Driver - We will be bussing people to the church where they will be spending the night on freezing nights. A bus system will be put in place.

Morning Cleanup - Responsible for cleaning up after the community leaves in the morning (after breakfast).
