Organizational Context:
Voice of Purpose (VOP) is an organization that focuses on capacity building and systems change in the transformative arts sector. The primary purpose of our industry is to deliver empowering social impact through the arts and community engagement. VOP serves the sector through professional development, consulting, and sector-wide collaborations. We are an organization dedicated to being an industry catalyst by supporting arts organizations, leaders, and the sector as a whole to embody true purpose and deepen our collective impact in the world.
VOP is in the process of developing and delivering new projects in 2024 across Canada and the US that focus on capacity building (e.g. professional development training for community engaged artists), and systems change (e.g. strategic change management support for arts leaders of colour). We are an organization with a mission anchored in co-liberation and transformation.
VOP is a federally-incorporated Canadian nonprofit (NFP) organization and a Georgia-registered LLC in the US.
Role Dimensions:
1) Operational systems maintenance and process improvements for both VOP NFP (Canadian not-for-profit) and VOP LLC (US for-profit) including:
- Continued upkeep of financial administrative processes and systems including working with external finance team on bookkeeping, payroll, CRA remittances, and internal processes such as bill payments, expense reporting, budget tracking etc.
- Updates and documentation of administrative and operational processes and procedures
- Introducing and implementing new policies and procedures as needed
- Planning for upcoming compliance items such as annual tax returns, reports and other filings (and support with filing as needed)
- Support in developing and administering agreements and contracts
- Continued development and maintenance of operations systems overview on Miro and Coda
- Re-engage/maintain process of acquiring commercial general liability insurance
- Organizational Strategic Planning support
- Continued oversight of governance functions for NFP
2) Team Development & Support:
- Continued support with any onboarding, training, and offboarding processes and content
- Supporting team members with administrative and financial processes
- Supporting Executive Director with team mutual assessment program

- Versed in non-profit organizations and community arts sector
- Feels that personal purpose/passion is in alignment with this role
- Has access to stable internet & computer - Able to work fully remote
Reporting & Team Structure:
The candidate will be taking directives from our Executive Director, and Director of Digital Strategy, as well as collaborating with our Marketing team. The majority of our team works within Eastern & Central Time Zones.
Timing and compensation:
$25-30/hr up to 10 hours a week, for a period of 12-18 months. Please note that this is an independent contractor position.
