Thanks for expressing an interest in the Write Christmas event. We're looking for schools, youth groups etc to be a part of our fundraising, Christmas event.
What is it all about?
Christmas is usually a time we remember for being about family, happiness, giving and receiving presents. It's also a time that can be quite difficult for very many people. What is guaranteed to bring us together are stories. Stories about anything; from years ago or in the future. One person or a group of people! A story to excite, inspire, wow, entertain...maybe even scare people! We're asking professional writers to write stories & we're employing actors to read them. These 12, family appropriate stories will be shared just like an advent calendar over the 12 days up to Christmas day.
How can we be involved?
To go along with these stories, we'd love to reach out to schools and groups across the 10 boroughs of Greater Manchester. From these groups, we'd also like to ask young people to write stories of up to 5 minutes around what Christmas means for them. We (with your help as Teacher/Group Leader) will select 12 stories, at least one from each group involved, and either have the young author read the story themselves or use an actor to tell the story. Regardless of if the author wants to/is able to tell the story themselves, we would love to visit your school/group in November and record some of the young people talking about Christmas, maybe singing a Christmas song or talking about themselves. Some of these recordings will be used amongst the shared stories.
How do I sign up?
If you can complete the form below, we can then get in contact to discuss the next steps, organise dates to visit and provide you with some inspirations you might want to use with the group to inspire their stories. The person completing this form needs to be a Teacher or Group Leader and have permission to engage us in this way. If we visit the school, full Media Release forms will be required for every young person who takes part in the film.
What's it for?
The stories will be shared on online platforms to engage our regular audience but also to encourage a wider audience for all boroughs of Manchester, to inject some Christmas spirit (whatever that means to you!) and to raise money for a brilliant charity; The Wood Street Mission, a children’s charity helping children and families living on a low income in Manchester and Salford.
Count me in! What next?
