  • 9. Web Hosting

    a. A web "host" is the company that will host your published website files on their server and make them accessible/browsible on the world-wide web.

  • c. If you answered 'yes' to '9.b' above, we will be able to provide you with email addresses that are associated with your domain. (*Note: If your domain/site will be hosted elsewhere, you will need to speak to them about email accounts and aliases. If this is the case, skip ahead to 10 on the next page.)

    You can choose between "real" email accounts or email aliases, or you can have some of each.

    i. "Real email accounts are simply a location on our hosting server where email messages sent to you are held until you retrieve them.  When you connect to the internet (dial-up, cable, DSL, fibre optic, etc.) and open your email via an email client (Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, macOS Mail, IncrediMail, Mailbox, iOS Mail, etc.), it will log into your email account on our email server and download your messages. An email account is what people are commonly reffering to when they talk about their email address. You can also access the email in your account via webmail from any computer in the world with internet access and your secure log-in credentials.

    1. Microsoft Office 365 - A feature-rich and robust business email account that includes:
      • Email address that matches your domain (e.g. joe@MyWebsite.com that uses the same domain as the website www.MyWebsite.com)
      • 10 GB of email storage
      • Mobile-friendly webmail
      • Calendar, contacts and tasks
      • Works with the email app of your choice
      • Option to add other productivity tools like Teams
      • Requires committing to term contracts (options include being billed monthly, 1 year, 2 year, etc. for each email account)
    2. Standard email account - For non-mission-critical & occasional use that includes:
      • Email that matches your domain (see example above)
      • 50 MB of email storage
      • Mobile-friendly webmail
      • Works with the email app of your choice
      • Ali Cat hosting contract comes with 2 email accounts; additional accounts will be quoted seperately. Accounts can be added, deleted or changed at any time.

  • ii. An email alias looks just like a "real" email account, but it operates completely differently behind the scenes. These addresses are often used for non-person specific addresses such as support@, info@, sales@, and so on.  These addresses do not have any storage or file space reserved for them on the email server; rather they immediately forward all messages they receive to one or more existing "real" email accounts.

    Content is the information and features you include on your website.  In the highly competitive online business world, website content plays an important role in strongy communicating your message to a wide audience.  Content that is crisp and precise and provides a well-worded call-to-action goes a long way in attracting an audience and potential customers and ensuring repeat visitors to your site.  In addition, the quality of photos and graphics will greatly affect the professional appearance of your website.

Google Analytics (GA) is a service offered by Google that generates detailled statistics about the visits to a website.  It is the most widely-used website statistic service.  The basic level is free-of-charge and a premium version is available for a fee (paid to Google).  GA can track visitors from all referrers, inckuding search engines, display advertising, pay-per-click networks, eMail marketing and digital collateral such as links within PDF documents.  All of this is invisible to the users of your site, but will provide you with lots of usegul information about visitors tomyour site and which pages are most used, etc.  Having GA installed also increases site visibility to search engines.  Would you like Google Analytics installed on your site?

    Having a mobile version of your website is an imperative in modern website design, both to allow your users to browse your site on any size of screen (computer/laptop monitor, tablet, smart phone), but proper mobile-friendly design is a requirement of Google, the world's biggest search engine.  If your site doesn not automatically and fluidly adapt to all screen sizes, Google will drop your website from its search returns which will have a huge negative impact on your SEO.
