    2025 REDCITY ROAR BASKETBALL HEAD COACH, APPLICATION U16's SQJBC

    Season Details as follows

    Trials: 17th and 24nd Aug 2025 TBC

    Grading Start: 25th October and go for 5 weeks 

    Regular Season Starts: 7th Dec then 31st Jan/1st Feb double header.

    State Championships:

    Boys: Logan 9-12 April 2026, 

    Girls; Southern Districts and Brisbane Basketball  14-17th April 2026

  • RedCity Roar Coach Selection Policy - Summary

    To be considered for a position each Coach and Assistant MUST have or agree to start the level of coach accreditation required prior to the rep season commencing,  coaches must be available for rep trials. 

    Coaches MUST attend all trials.  All appointed coaches immediately become a part of the selection panel for all teams in that age group/gender, therefore are responsible for assisting in selection of all teams. 

    RedCity Roar Basketball have implemented coaching policies for all age groups, as a RedCity Roar coach you must agree to implement the training/playing guidelines as outlined by the Coaching Director. (These will be discussed at the pre trial talk and includes RedCity Roar Coaches Master Plan & Style of Play).

    All coaching positions are held on a volunteer basis. RedCity Basketball retains the right to remove coaches that are not acceptable in the view of the Coaching Director or General Manager.

  • Coaches Code of Behavior

    • Remember that young people participate for pleasure and winning is only part of the fun.
    • Never ridicule or yell at a young player for making a mistake or not coming first.
    • Be reasonable in your demands on players’ time, energy and enthusiasm.
    • Operate within the rules and spirit of your sport and teach your players to do the same.
    • Ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience. All young people are deserving of equal attention and opportunities.
    • Avoid overplaying the talented players; the just-average need and deserve  time. (Please become familiar with RedCity Roar Style of Play document for policies for each age group and divisions)
    • Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players.
    • Display control, respect and professionalism to all involved with the sport. This includes opponents, coaches, officials, administrators, the media, parents and spectators. Encourage your players to do the same.
    • Show concern and caution toward sick and injured players. Follow the advice of a physician when determining whether an injured player is ready to recommence training or competition.
    • Obtain appropriate qualifications and keep up to date with the latest coaching practices and the principles of growth and development of young people.
    • Any physical contact with a young person should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player’s skill development.
    • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person
    • Refrain from engaging in negative or destructive discussion or postings on social media about players, coaches, spectators, officials, administrators or other basketball participants, that may be viewed as abusive, harassing or offensive in nature
