We would like to learn more about you and your interest in the program. Once we have reviewed all applications we will contact you for a brief follow-up meeting. If you are invited to participate you will be given a participant agreement form with additional program details. Voice Project is a sliding scale program, which does mean we have limited spots to offer. You can find information about the program on our website or within the application questions. What do you want to contribute to a group-based learning environment? How might you stay committed to this contribution? What challenges do you anticipate and how might you navigate those?

Tell us about a time when you were working with a group and did not feel heard, valued, or understood. How did you handle this and what were all the pieces contributing to this experience?

What are some strengths and challenges with your communication style? How do you prefer people communicate with you?

What is your schedule and life like currently? Are you able to regularly attend groups, individual lessons, and work toward creative projects within a group and individually? Ideally, you are taking 1-2 of Circus Project public class offerings to round out your training. Sometimes you will need to respond to emails or messages outside of class. Do you have planned trips or events? How would you address something unforeseen arising that impacts group engagement?
2 hour group rehearsals 2 times per week, 1 hour weekly private lesson, 30-45 minute weekly, or bi-weekly, support meetings, 1 online and 1 in studio class, class practice/open gym, and creative project prep time as needed. The time commitment ranges from 10-15 hours per week, depending on where we are at in the creation process. Note: As the situation with COVID changes, we will make adjustments accordingly. Grant and foundation access can impact program changes as well.

What experience and interests do you have in talking about privilege, oppression, activism, and social change? How do you speak to your own experience and identities? How have you handled feedback about something related to gender, race, class, ability, or other marginalized identities?
When individuals come together in a group, a lot can come up. Sometimes parts of ourselves are triggered that connect to how we felt in past relationships, including family. How do you see this coming up for you and how might you handle it?
What are your go-to emotion regulation skills in challenging times?
We have found that for those with trauma in their past, that being active with a therapist and attending to personal health (sleep, nutrition, health needs) outside of class will support consistent engagement and navigation of group dynamics. What supports do you have in your life at this time? What barriers do you foresee and what might you need support with both within and outside the program?

This year we are initiating a sliding scale option for those who are able to pay. This is not required for you to apply. If you are in a place where finances are not a barrier you can consider some of these options. If you are not in a place to contribute financially this will not be held against you for consideration in the program. Some sliding scale option are to a) relinquish monthly stipend amount of $110, b) pay monthly amount or one lump sum, or c) a combination of payment and not receiving a stipend. What are you reasonable able to contribute at this time?
