What is the 12 DAYS OF PROMENADE?
The Holiday Promenade is transitioning the format in 2020 to continue to bring holiday cheer and merriment to our community while keeping our businesses and guests safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Festivities will begin in mid-November and will extend into late December with event activities operating on SIX Sundays and extended hours at neighborhood businesses on SIX Wednesdays. Together, these activities will make up the 12 Days of Promenade.
DATES & HOURS
Event activities: Sundays, 11 – 3 p.m., starting Nov. 15
Extended store hours: Wednesdays, 4 – 8 p.m., starting Nov. 18

Promenade sponsors are welcome at all levels and recognition is tiered based on the amount of the contribution. All contributions will be recognized on the official website, holidaypromenade.com, social media and Promenade map. Historic East Village Businesses who contribute $200 or above will also receive at least one of the following benefits:
Hired Street Musicians. The Promenade will have a musician perform outside your business on at least one of the event dates. Musicians will be scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Scavenger Hunt Host. Event sponsors are guaranteed to host a Scavenger Hunt location for the 12 Days of Christmas, the Reindeer Games or both.

EVENT POSTERS | In lieu of a traditional poster, we will be delivering a special cling to all interested Historic East Village businesses. The cling has space to write on your holiday hours. It can stick to glass or be hung with tape or a similar adhesive.

Special decorated parking meters will be reserved for curb-side pick-up.
The Des Moines Arts Festival® Winter Art Market will take place at Wooly’s. Select weeks will feature Iowa Artists who have been a part of past Festivals and other weeks will feature a selection of Iowa makers.
Live music, roaming carolers and photo opportunities.
Special event programming ranging from visits from Santa to outdoor scavenger hunts. All event programming will be outdoors. A detailed schedule is available on the next page.
WEDNESDAYS, NOV. 18 – DEC. 23, 4 – 8 P.M.
The traditional holiday lights will return to the Historic East Village beginning Nov. 18.
Historic East Village businesses are encouraged to stay open until 8 p.m. and offer special deals or activities. Businesses can submit their deal at any time on holidaypromenade.com.
