Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) is a method of virtual collaboration between professors and students in the U.S. with those at partner institutions abroad. It is part of the classroom learning environment providing an opportunity to incorporate virtual exchange; co-teaching for faculty and co-learning for students. It facilitates the incorporation of multicultural perspectives and inclusion with instruction using various technologies. COIL permits an environmentally friendly way to encourage experiences on a global scale for both faculty and students without the costs associated with physical travel, including minimizing environmental impact.
The Fordham Research COIL Program is designed to promote university-wide global research, develop faculty-student research collaborations, and facilitate global research partnerships in the area of virtual collaborative international teaching. Please complete the questions below to apply. For further information, see the guidelines available at the Connecting Research to Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) web page.
