Thank you for your interest in becoming a loan guarantor. Please read the following statements carefully and ask for an explanation if there is anything you do not understand.

•  You are being asked to guarantee the borrower's debt. Think carefully before you do. If the borrower does not pay the debt, you will have to. Be sure you can afford to pay if you have to, and that you want to accept this responsibility.
• If the borrower fails to repay the loan, as agreed, guarantors are liable "jointly and severally." The Hebrew Free Loan of San Diego would expect all guarantors to share equally in the responsibility for repaying the loan. However, each guarantor is individually liable for the full amount and you could be called upon to repay the total balance due (which might be the full amount of the individual loan). You may also be required to pay collection costs (attorney fees, court costs, etc.), which would increase the amount due.
• The Hebrew Free Loan of San Diego can use the same collection methods against you that can be used against the borrower, such as suing you, garnishing your wages, etc.
• If this debt is ever in default, that fact may become part of your credit record.
• This application is not the contract that makes you liable for the debt.

• I authorize the Hebrew Free Loan of San Diego to investigate my credit and personal history.
• I authorize agencies and persons contacted by the Hebrew Free Loan of San Diego in connection with this application (including credit reporting agencies, banks, and social service organizations) to provide information about my credit and personal history to Hebrew Free Loan of San Diego.
• I certify that the information contained in this loan guarantor application is complete and accurate.

The Hebrew Free Loan of San Diego (HFLSD) is a nonprofit organization that makes interest-free loans to deserving individuals in San Diego County. All providers of loan services are required by law to inform their clients of their policies regarding privacy of client information. HFLSD observes all state and federal requirements regarding the confidentiality and safeguarding of the personal information of its borrowers and guarantors.

Federal law requires HFLSD to tell you how we collect, share, and protect your non-public personal information. Please read this notice carefully to understand what we do.

We collect your personal information when you apply for a loan or provide a guaranty for a loan. We may also collect your non-public personal information from credit bureaus and other sources with your authorization. The types of personal information we collect on our borrowers and guarantors can include: Social Security number, driver license number, address, telephone number, income, credit history, and credit scores.

HFLSD keeps confidential the personal information regarding its borrowers or guarantors, except to the extent required or permitted by law (e.g. in response to court orders or legal investigations) or for our everyday business purposes, such as to report to credit bureaus, to process borrower transactions, enforce borrower or guarantor obligations, or maintain loan accounts. In all such situations, we stress the confidential nature of the information being shared.

We restrict access to your personal information to those who need to know that information to process the loan application and collect loan payments. We retain records relating to loan services that we provide so that we are better able to assist borrowers with their needs. To protect personal information from unauthorized access and use, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards that comply with federal and our internal standards. These measures include computer safeguards and secured files.

 We will continue to adhere to the privacy policies and practices as described in this notice even after the time you satisfy your loan obligation to us.
