  • Colourstrings - Covid Terms & Procedures

    August 2021

    1. Students and Carers are not to come for Lessons if they are feeling unwell with Covid symptoms or have been in contact with anyone who shows symptoms of Covid-19.  Students/parents must call to inform us on 01892 526659 to cancel a lesson.  Or email brittensmusic@gmail.com with at least two hour’s notice.
    2. Students must currently enter the Music School via the front entrance to the music school (not the shop).  This is to ensure that a one way system though the music school is maintained.   There is a buzzer to the left side of the door.  When this changes, you will be informed. There is room for several pushchairs at the bottom of the stairs, but please collapse all buggies so that we can accommodate everyone.
    3. Please try not to arrive more than 5 minutes before the class is due to start.
    4. All hands should be sanitized upon entry to the Music School using the hand wash located at the top of stairs.
    5. Carers, please scan our QR Code located at the top of the stairs using a mobile phone – or enter your name and phone number in our visitor book - to comply with our Track and Trace and 21 day record keeping requirements.  Again - when this changes we will let you know.
    6. A mask should be worn by all adults in all communal areas of the music school  – including trips to the toilet.  Children at primary school do not need to wear a mask.
    7. There are currently NO waiting areas provided for parents/carers.   Parents who are leaving their child for their class should exit the building via the side stairs and can exit via the shop when it is open, or via the side doors (to the station carpark side) when the shop is closed.
    8. The Colourstrings classes will normally be held in Room 5.  If it has been agreed that the parent attends the class with the child, then the parent should escort the child to Room 5 at the allotted lesson time.
    9. Please ensure that your child does not run around the music school - for their safety and that of others.  There are also other lessons taking place.
    10. The teacher will confirm whether the parent/student can remove their mask in the teaching room as appropriate.  We will let you know when this changes.
    11. Rooms will be ventilated with windows open.  Please DO NOT close windows.
    12. At the end of the lesson, the Carer/student must exit via the side exit staircase.  For primary school age children, their teacher will escort them to the staircase, and ensure that a parent is waiting.  Please ensure that you are on time to collect your child.
    13. Please try to offer your child a convenience break before attending the class.  Children must be escorted to the toilets and this can be disruptive for the class, and may stretch resources if parents aren’t attending the lesson.
    14. And finally, if our teacher is required to self-isolate, then classes will revert to ZOOM until the isolation period is over.  We will deal with isolating families on a case by case basis.
  • Terms and Conditions - Brittens Music School

    (August 2021)

    1. Lessons cost £7.50 for a 45 minute lesson (face to face), and £6.50 for a second and subsequent student from the same family.
    2. Lessons take place on a weekly basis, excluding half term. Lessons do not take place during the Easter, Summer or Christmas holidays. Please refer to the Colourstrings schedule for the lesson dates for the current term.  Terms last 11 - 13 weeks. Occasionally we may vary this to take into account Public Holidays.
    3. Lessons due to take place on Bank Holidays will be taken into account during invoicing, credited or rescheduled as the school will not operate on these days. Please ask your teacher for individual arrangements.
    4. Lessons are invoiced four weeks in advance of the commencement of term, with termly and half-termly payments due before lessons commence for the term to which they apply.
    5. Lesson fees can be paid by BACS or alternatively at the Tunbridge Wells shop by credit/debit card, cash or cheque.  If fees remain unpaid (and you have not contacted us to arrange a payment plan) by the third lesson in a term, lessons will be suspended until payment is received. We will endeavour, but cannot always guarantee to retain your place in the class.
    6. Students are expected to attend all lessons within each term. Credits can only be given if the lesson is cancelled by the teacher or Brittens.
Any lessons which are cancelled by the teacher and which fail to be “caught up” before the end of the term will be credited against the fees for the following term.
    7. Lessons will normally take place at the same time each week, unless otherwise agreed. Please let your teacher know if you have any specific requirements and we will do our best to accommodate them.
    8. If the Parent/student wishes to withdraw from lessons, then written notice (by email) must be received by the Music School Manager no later than 4 weeks before the end of the current term. In the event of the student not wishing to continue lessons during this notice period, the fees for the term will still be payable in full.
    9. Students are expected to behave appropriately during lessons and in the public areas of the School. Teachers have the right to remove disruptive students from lessons, particularly if their behaviour impacts on other students. Should this occur, a full written explanation will be provided.
    10. Because of the nature of group music lessons and the obvious proximity to teachers, other students and direct contact with the instruments, sick students should refrain from attending classes/lessons until they are no longer contagious. Brittens Music reserves the right, without refund of School fees, to send a student home if they are obviously unwell.
    11. It is the Parent’s responsibility to ensure that Brittens Music has their correct contact details at all times.
    12. Attendance of lessons will constitute acceptance of these terms.
