Introduction
This Review of YFCI Services is intended to help YFC National Program leaders (primarily National Directors and Board Chairs) evaluate how well YFCI (including Area and Regional Offices) is accomplishing the purposes of YFCI as described in our Constitution and By-Laws, Chartering Documents and Area Director Job Description. This information will help YFCI (including Area and Regional Offices) adjust the service it provides to National Programs to maximize the positive impact on National Program effectiveness.
The YFCI and Area Office Review should be completed in the context of a visit by the Area or Regional Director, when the Area or Regional Director, National Director and Board Chairperson can sit together to work through the Review.
The purpose of this exercise is to help YFCI and Area Offices know how they are doing in fulfilling their responsibilities to National Programs, so that adjustments can be made to maximize the effectiveness of the services delivered to National Programs. This process also helps us fulfill our value of being a mutually accountable movement, in which YFCI helps National Programs assess the effectiveness of the National Ministry in reaching young people, and the National Programs help YFCI and Area Offices assess the effectiveness of their service to National Programs.
Instructions for Review of YFCI Services
The major area of service to the National Program is listed at the top of each page's form. In the first column is a set of sub-categories related to that major area of service. For example, under the major area of “Training” are the following sub-categories: Staff Training, Board training, Training at Area/Regional conferences and Young Leader Development Process.
Listed to the right of each sub-category are qualitative criteria that fall in columns with a value of 5 to 1 assigned at the top of each column. (One column identified as not needed/not requested, should be checked if the service listed was not performed because the National Program did not feel a need for the service, and therefore did not request nor expect that service.) For each sub-category, determine which description best fits the level of service you received in this sub-category. For example, if under the sub-category of “Board Training” under the major area of “Training”, the qualitative description that best fits the service your received was, ”Quite helpful”, you would select "Quite helpful" and a score of “4” for that sub-category will be added to the total score at the bottom of the form.
Once all of the sub-categories for a major area have received a score, a total score for that major area will appear at the bottom of the form. At the end of each form is a rating chart that shows if that total score indicates that the service in that major service area is: very healthy, healthy, moderately healthy, assistance needed or intervention needed.
