Dear Prospective Irrigation Customer:
Thank you for contacting Bay County Utility Services for your water service needs. The following is provided for your information:
1. In accordance with the Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.) Chapter 62-550 Section 360, the customer is required to install a backflow prevention assembly downstream of the irrigation water meter, (downstream meaning after the meter but before the first sprinkler head,) prior to the customers irrigation service being activated. A pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) assembly is required if backpressure cannot develop in the downstream piping and a reduced-pressure principle assembly (RP) is required if backpressure could develop in the downstream piping. (See diagram below). A backflow prevention device is used to protect potable water supplies from contamination or pollution due to backflow. The customer will own and maintain this backflow prevention assembly and will be required to have the assembly tested eve1y two years by a certified backflow /cross connection tester. The customer must provide the test results to the Water Department within (7) seven calendar days of test completion. The customer must install the backflow prevention assembly prior to the inspection that will be conducted by the Water Department. Neglecting to install this assembly is a violation of the Florida Administrative Code, and enforcement action will occur per F.A.C. 62-550 and your irrigation water service will be disconnected when this requirement is not met. 2. Applications may be submitted and fees paid at Bay County Utility Services office located at 3410 Transmitter Road. Fees will include the wholesale impact fee, water impact fee, meter installation fee, deposit, and non-refundable service fee. Checks, Credit Cards, Money Orders and Cash are accepted at this time.
3. Water Department crews will normally install the customer's irrigation meter in approximately three (3) weeks from the time of payment of fees if no main extension or permit is involved and no unusual circumstances occur.
4. The Water Department will determine the irrigation meter location. The meter will be installed near the existing domestic meter or as determined by the Depa11ment.
5. The customer is responsible for protecting the meter installation from damage and ensuring that the meter remains accessible for reading at all times.
6. Bay County Utility Services is responsible for installation and maintenance of the meter only. The customer is responsible for its piping to the pipe stub provided by us.
7. No connections inside the meter boxes are allowed. All water meters, piping and appurtenances from the main up to and including the meter box are the property of Bay County Utility Services.
8. The Water Department is responsible for repairing leakage from the main to inside the meter box. The customer is responsible for all leakage occurring on the customer’s side of the meter box.
9. A hold will be placed on the Certificate of Occupancy for all new construction until all water requirements are met. Fees will be assessed for any damaged or missing equipment.
