Frank D. Lupton Outdoor Recreation Consortium Scholarship
PURPOSE
The Frank D. Lupton Outdoor Recreation Scholarship was established to provide funds to assist one undergraduate or graduate student to attend the annual Outdoor Recreation Consortium, held during the spring semester. The amount awarded will cover some participant fees for the recipient.
Scholarship amounts will vary based on additional funds. The minimum will be $100 and the maximum will be $250. The scholarships will be applied to offset direct expenses for the fieldtrip associated with this course.
QUALIFICATIONS
Be a RPTA major at either the undergraduate or graduate level;
Provide evidence of leadership and involvement in extra-curricular activities involving the RPTA Department, the College of Education and Human Services, the WIU community, or professional field.
SELECTION
The application period will be from November 1 to February 1. The final decision on the award will be made by the RPTA Department Scholarship Committee by mid-February with one recipient and one alternate named.
APPLICATION
Each applicant will submit via this form a letter of application, personal resumé, and a letter of recommendation from either a faculty member or practioner in the field.
The letter of application should include:
Description of past and current involvement in extra-curricular activities as an RPTA major, including any leadership positions held in departmental, college, university, or professional organizations;
Description of any experiences and/or interests in Outdoor Recreation, Outdoor Education, Environmental Interpretation, Resource Conservation and Management, Tourism & Commercial Recreation, or Therapeutic Recreation;
Description of personal goals to be achieved through attendance and participation in the Outdoor Recreation Consortium.
