The Chest Wall Injury Summit Program Committee encourages you to submit an abstract for oral presentation at the 2021 CWISummit. The goal of the Summit is to exchange ideas about best practices in the daily delivery of excellent patient care.
There may be areas of controversy, where your research and experience can help participants choose the best practice for their individual patients. The abstracts may be research-focused, clinical-focused, or program-focused. The abstract must describe work that is evidence-based and can be early implementation or brainstorming stage.
How to Submit:
Submit online prior to Monday, November 30 at 11:59 PM MT. Submissions must be 500 words or fewer.
Multiple submissions per individual/institution are encouraged, however, no more than two will be accepted for presentation. Submitting an abstract represents a commitment to attend the 2021 Chest Wall Injury Summit (virtually or in-person) and timely submission of materials as requested if accepted.
Each presentation is allotted 12 minutes, using the following format:
• 7 minutes of presentation
• 5 minutes of Q&A
Individuals who submit abstracts should ensure that they provide sufficient detail so that reviewers will be able to evaluate the authors’ research design, data, analysis, and results.
If the submission of additional material is preferred by the author(s), please upload accordingly. Please email CWIS if you experience any technical challenges.
Abstract Review and Selection:
Submission review will be performed by the CWIS Program Committee and will begin immediately after the deadline. All submissions will be blinded for review and ranking.
Applicants will receive an email notification on or before Thursday, December 31 regarding abstract acceptance for presentation at the 2021 Chest Wall Injury Summit. Slides and manuscripts will be due on April 1. This is a firm deadline.
JTACS Manuscript Review and Selection:
CWIS and the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery have partnered to reserve space within an upcoming “CWIS issue” of the journal, in which five manuscripts from our 2020 Summit will be given priority for publication. All abstracts accepted for a podium are required to submit a completed manuscript to CWIS by April 1, 2021.
A sub-committee of the Publications Committee + other CWIS leadership will review the submitted manuscripts and the selected manuscripts will be announced at the conclusion of the Summit.
