Independent Study/Research
- Permission of your academic advisor(s) and a faculty sponsor are required. All independent study/research must be completed during
  the term in which the course is registered. No retroactive credit will be granted.
- Independent study/research experiences may be registered until the add/drop period concludes, typically the eighth class day of the
  term. Consult the academic calendar for an exact date.
- Each independent study/research project will be defined by the student and guided by a faculty sponsor. The outcomes of the project
  may be written or presented at the discretion of the faculty sponsor.
- It is expected that 9-12 hours of study per week, or 126-168 total hours, are required for each course unit earned.
- No more than four (4) course units of individualized instruction (internship, practicum, independent study/research, or special
  arrangement) may contribute to the 32 units required for graduation (34 units if you matriculated before Fall 2017), except as required
  by special programs, such as the Dana Associates program
- Independent study/research may not be used to satisfy a general academic requirement.
- All independent study/research will be assigned traditional letter grades, A through F.
- You may enroll for two (2) independent study/research experiences during the same term, but only one (1) independent study or
  research experience may be enrolled concurrently with an internship or practicum in any term.
