Terms of Associate Membership

1. Eligibility

To be eligible for Associate Membership the organisation must meet the following criteria:

i. It must be a constituted, self-governing body of people who have joined together voluntarily to take action for the benefit of ethnically diverse communities;

ii. OR a business that is either has a majority of ethnically diverse individuals in the leadership team OR has a majority of ethnically diverse service users;

iii. It must have the capacity to operate locally, regionally or nationally to promote sport and physical activity to ethnically diverse communities;

iv. The aims, objectives and methods of working of the organisation must be publicly available;

PLEASE NOTE: Organisations that are eligible for Sporting Equals Associate Membership must either have a majority of ethnically diverse service users or be an organisation that has a majority of ethnically diverse individuals in leadership (the demographic of your leadership must be a majority of ethnically diverse individuals) We will not accept applications from organisations that do not fulfil these criteria, however, if you wish to align your organisation with Sporting Equals, you may wish to consider the Entry-level Charter instead, please contact info@sportingequals.org.uk for more information.

2. Application for membership

i. Sporting Equals reserves the right to refuse membership to any organisation or individual it believes to be ineligible or inappropriate.

ii. Sporting Equals shall have the opportunity to require further information as it deems necessary to determine an application.

iii. Application for membership by online form or email. Sporting Equals may at discretion allow applications through completion of a hard copy form.

iv. Upon application for Associate Membership, the signatory gives permission for Sporting Equals to send the applicant relevant marketing information and share data with external bodies that are sympathetic to the cause in order to promote collaborative working within the sport and physical activity sector.

3. Cancelling Membership

i. Any member may resign from membership by giving written notice via email to Sporting Equals.

ii. If any member is seen to have a conflict of interest with the aims or work of Sporting Equals, or in the opinion of Sporting Equals is injurious to the interests of Sporting Equals it shall be ineligible to continue membership and their membership shall be discontinued immediately.

iii. Sporting Equals reserves the right to amend the terms of Associate Membership or cancel membership at any time.
