Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.” – 1 Timothy 4:12 As expected of us, it is our goal at Immanuel Lutheran School to maintain a school setting in which children have: ~ a feeling of security ~ an environment conducive to learning ~ an awareness and respect for authority and procedures ~ a responsibility towards self-discipline and self-control It is also our goal at Immanuel to assist students in their growth in self-discipline and self-control as responsible children of God by: ~ teaching accountability and responsibility to God, to themselves, and persons in authority ~ developing routines and activities that teach organization ~ reinforcing and encouraging acceptable behavior ~ discouraging misbehavior ~ fostering a genuine love and concern for one another. “Do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” – Galatians 6:10 Behavior expectations of the students at Immanuel are in accordance with Christian self-discipline, Christian love, and Christian forgiveness. The following three basic rules guide these behavior expectations: • Everyone and everything is to be treated with respect. • Accept responsibility for your work and behavior. • Move from place to place in a manner that is safe for you and others. As the above behavior is expected of our children, it is also expected of all of our parents as we set Christian examples for our children. In setting an example, please remember if you have any concerns during the school year regarding a teacher, staff member, or other person, ask to speak to that person first. If after that conference an understanding is not reached, schedule a conference with the principal. If you feel the concern is still not resolved, you may request a meeting with our Senior Pastor. We are hopeful that these avenues will provide a clear response to your question or concern. If the matter is still not resolved after these meetings, a letter may be sent to our Support and Guidance Council, requesting attention to the matter. Your request will be reviewed at their next regularly scheduled meeting. By following this procedure, you are setting an example for our children that as adults we also treat each other with respect. Bringing concerns to those who can resolve them is both beneficial to the issue and constructive for the solution. Discussing concerns in “open forum” with anyone will not promote a solution but does promote misunderstanding, misrepresentation, and gossip. This runs contrary to the positive environment we are trying to establish. “Whatever you do, whether in work or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” – Colossians 3:17 Just as the children are held responsible to the basic rules, parents will also be held responsible. If a parent has not followed the basic rules as noted above or expressed their concerns in the manner noted above, Immanuel Lutheran School reserves the right to take appropriate action as required to ensure that the school environment that we have described above is maintained. “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love.” – Ephesians 5:1-2 Please complete the portion below and return a signed copy to the school office. By signing below, you agree to comply to the above, continuing to be Christian examples for our children.
