• Sigma Rho Zeta Annual High School Scholarship Application

  • APPLICATION GUIDELINES

    Read and follow the instructions carefully prior to submitting your application.

    A COMPLETE APPLICATION CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING:

    • Electronic Application Submission
    • An unofficial high school transcript (uploaded before submission)
    • Two letters of recommendation to include:

    1) High School Teacher or Counselor

    2) Community Leader (who has currently or previously observed and/or coordinated community service projects that the applicant participated in)

    • Narrative: In a narrative, the writer is to explore the following topic: "How does your major and chosen career field contribute to society, and how will you use your leadership, service, and academic skills in college to achieve your goals and create positive change?"
     
    ELIGIBILITY:
    • The Sigma Rho Zeta High School Scholarship is available to a graduating high school senior in Wake County with a GPA of at least a 3.0 (unweighted).
    • The graduating senior must be enrolled at a chosen college/university for the Fall semester of 2026.
    • The graduating senior is still eligible if they are considered a "mid-year"  graduate.

    PROVISIONS:

    • The Sigma Rho Zeta High School Scholarship is a one-time award payment of $1,500 which will be awarded for full-time collegiate study for the upcoming 2026 - 2027 academic year.
    • Proof of enrollment/university acceptance must be received before disbursement of scholarship funds.
    • Scholarship funds will be remitted to the Financial Aid office of the designated college/university to be applied toward tuition and/or appropriate fees. 

    *Applications must be received no later than 11:59 PM on February 28, 2026. The recipient will be chosen and notified in writing by April 25, 2026.

    As part of the application process, you will receive a link to provide your references to complete the recommendation portion of the application. Letters of recommendation must be submitted using the link provided no later than the application deadline of 11:59 PM on February 28, 2026.

  • In a narrative (essay) using 12 pt font, Times New Roman, explore the following topic: 

    "How does your major and chosen career field contribute to society, and how will you use your leadership, service, and academic skills in college to achieve your goals and create positive change?"

    Please be advised: Content will be evaluated on adequate use of spelling, grammar, punctuation, organization of content and relevant details that comprehensively covers the essay topic. There is a 500 min/1100 max word count not to exceed 2 pages, double spaced in length.  Word Count will not include Title Page nor page numbering.

    Provide this link to those who will submit their letters of recommendation on your behalf. All uploads must be completed using this link no later than February 28, 2026 11:59 PM. This link will also be included in your confirmation email.   • VI. Required Certification and Release of Information

    • I confirm that I have provided factual and complete information on this scholarship application to the best of my knowledge. False information or failure to disclose relevant information may be grounds for rejection of my application.
    • I have read the Application Guidelines for the Sigma Rho Zeta Annual High School Scholarship and Description and meet all stated conditions of eligibility. I understand that all applications will be held confidential, and that no application materials will be returned. I waive the right to access letters of recommendation on my behalf.
    • I understand that one scholarship recipient will be chosen and notified in writing. If selected to receive the Sigma Rho Zeta Annual High School Scholarship, I give the Sigma Rho Zeta chapter permission to release my name, institution, essay, and photograph for promotional purposes. If necessary, I will be available to appear at Sigma Rho Zeta scholarship-related functions.
    • I further understand that this scholarship award will be forfeited if applicant does not attend a/any college or university as stated in the submitted electronic application; or withdraws from the college or university in which the applicant is/was attending; or if applicant does not graduate from the attending high school during or after the scholarship application period; or if applicant graduates and does not matriculate into a college or university in the scholarship application period for which applicant applied.
