EXHIBIT OVERVIEW:
The Coral Springs Museum of Art invites artists or artist teams to explore the theme, “DIASPORA” in a time of change: Diaspora is a term used to describe movements in population from one country to another and is often cited in discussions about identity.
In relation to art, the term diaspora is used to discuss artists who have migrated from one part of the world to another, (or whose families have), and who express their diverse experiences of culture and identity in the work they make; often expressing alternative narratives, and challenging the ideas and structures of the established art world.
Submit art that explores symbolism, story, and beyond or any interpretation of the call that engages the artists.
Work must be original and not older than two (2) years old. No reproductions accepted. All Art forms encouraged.
JUROR:
We are leveling the playing field for emerging artists. This exhibit will be blind juried by a curator and/or art professional from a South Florida Cultural Institution. This allows artists' work to evaluated purely on merit rather than resume content, leveling the playing field for emerging artists.
We don't care about your fancy resume or lack thereof for this show. We care about the art! The Coral Springs Museum of Art encourages artists to think outside the box and use their creativity to engage with thoughts and issues facing their communities, lives, work and the theme of this show. Be brave! This is a safe space to try new or hard things.
AWARDS:
Special Exhibit Award: $250 for overall exhibit winner, artwork used in our exhibition promotion and the artist work will be featured on our show title/statement wall.
