General description of a Board Member here at Veteran Impact Services / OCB.
Volunteer members of the Board represent the members of Operation Charlie Bravo being served, as well as the public. Collectively, they are legally responsible for the corporation, including financial and program accountability. Members assist with ensuring the mission, vision, and values of the organization are met based on their understanding of the assets, needs and goals of the members.
Member at large duties shall be:
a.He / She shall represent the organization in a positive moral manor, and always stay true to the heart of the mission.
b. He / she shall assure the finances of the corporation are handled prudently and legally; approve and monitor the annual operating budget; approve allocations and grants; ensure compliance; establish and monitor policies and practices under the guidance of the Executive Committee.
c. He / she shall sit on and be actively involved in at least one board committee to drive the organization’s vision and evaluate their effectiveness in meeting stated goals.
d.He / she with the Executive Committee shall work to set the future vision of the organization, based on the mission and values established, and develop the work plan and measurements to assure the vision is met.
e.He / she shall work to enhance the organization’s image by understanding the mission, vision, values, and goals and communicate them to the community.
f. He / she shall work and assist in the development and implementation of a board development process to recruit, educate, evaluate, and recognize volunteer board members.
g.He / she shall support and participate in the annual campaigns, fundraisers, meetings, and events.
h.He / she shall review all meeting minutes, financial reports, and documents prior to board meetings to ensure they are prepared in advance for board and committee discussions and decision-making
