Serving as a resource parent for children in Tennessee is a privilege. The Department of Children's Services and its affiliated provider agencies seek to acquire and maintain exceptional resource parents capable of caring for children in AGAPE's and state's custody. Hence, the approval processes are intentionally and purposefully rigorous to ensure that only those persons who are best able to care for children who have been abuse or neglected become or remain resource parents in Tennessee. In addition to this effort, DCS and its affiliates will be sharing verbal and written information regarding the performance and quality of care provided to children in state's custody when resource parents choose to transfer or re-activate their services with an agency different from their initial activation. The sharing of information serves to ensure the safety and best interest of children and overrides an individual's reasonable expectation of privacy.
In signing this statement, I understand that information regarding my performance and quality of care as a resource parent will be shared between agencies if I choose to transfer or re-activate my services with an agency other than my initial assessment for the purpose of caring for children in state's custody.
