INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC AND THEORY TUITION
Instrumental music tuition is available to all students at the College on an individual lesson basis. Lessons are given by qualified teachers who are appointed in the capacity of Associate Instrumental Teachers. The College arranges for these teachers to attend weekly and provides them with the necessary facilities. Students are prepared and encouraged to sit A.M.E.B. or Trinity College of Music Examinations in practical performance and theory.
Terms and Conditions
Please read carefully:
1.
LESSONS are given during school time, lunchtime, before and after school. Most students will need to be prepared to miss one or more thirty minute periods per week to attend these lessons. Students preparing for high grade A.M.E.B. exams will be required for additional lessons. Music lessons are rotated each week so that students do not always miss the same subject.
2.
MISSED LESSONS if a student knows in advance that he/she is unable to attend a lesson due to excursions, dental/medical appointment, competitions, subject test, etc, all efforts should be made to advise the tutor directly that he/she will not be attending their lesson. If the teacher is not advised with a
minimum of 24 hours notice
the student will be charged for the missed lesson. Tutors
are not
obligated to make up any lessons that students have missed without giving the 24 hour advanced notice required. If a student is ill the Coordinator of Music Performance or tutor
must
be notified at the beginning of the day so the student"s allocated time can be given to another student. In this situation, the student would not be charged for the missed lesson, however, if the Coordinator of Music performance or the tutor have not been notified at the beginning of the day the student will be charged. Unforeseen circumstances such as sudden illness will be taken into account.
3.
BOARDING students may be rostered for practice if requested and all students should endeavour to attend regular practice sessions, as daily practice is essential if any improvement is to be made.
INSTRUMENTS
The range of instruments for which tuition is available varies from time to time depending on the demand and on the availability of suitable tutors. The College has a limited amount of instruments for hire, however, when available instruments can be hired from the College. Long term hire is not encouraged, as students who are making a definite commitment to music should have their own instrument. Students learning to play an instrument through the College are strongly encouraged to take part in the College's cocurricular music ensembles.
FEES
Currently, fees are less than those established by the Music Teachers Association of Queensland. For
2021
, fees will be
$37.00 per half-hour lesson
. Tutors will invoice students directly at the beginning of each term.
Students must attend lessons for at least one term.
