• PSA Academic Prizes 2020-21

  • Thank you for your interest in the PSA Academic Prizes.

    For over 30 years, the PSA has been celebrating the very best of our profession through our Academic Prizes. Our award categories recognise outstanding dissertations, scholars, teaching and groups across the discipline. Winners will be unveiled at the PSA’s Annual Conference on 30 March 2021 and also announced over social media and our website.

    You can use this form to submit your nomination for any of the prizes in the GROUP category. For other categories, follow the links to nomination forms for Dissertation Prizes, Career Prizes, or Teaching Prizes.

    Please ensure you have read the Prize Guidelines carefully before submitting a nomination and that you meet all eligibility requirements and submit all the required supporting documents (where applicable).

    Specialist Group of the Year
  • Use this section to fill in the details of the nominated Specialist Group and upload your supporting statement.

  • For your nomination to be considered, you must include a one-page supporting statement that identifies and provides evidence of innovative activities undertaken by the Specialist Group in the previous twelve months. These may include:

    • Achieving impact
    • Raising awareness of a subdiscipline
    • Supporting early career members’ needs
    • Engaging new audiences
    • Any other significant activities

    Politics Society of the Year
  • Use this section to fill in the details of the Politics Society you wish to nominate and to upload your supporting statement.

    Eligibility:

    • The prize is open to academic societies promoting the study of politics and international relations - societies affiliated to a particular political party or ideology are not eligible for this prize
    • Politics societies must be based at/affiliated to a UK university/HEI

    Representatives of the winning group will be invited to receive their prize at the PSA's Annual International Conference which will be held in Edinburgh in April 2020. The winning society will also receive a £100 grant from the PSA to be used for activities that further promote the study of politics.

  • For your nomination to be considered, you must include a one-page supporting statement that identifies and provides evidence of innovative activities undertaken by the society in the previous twelve months that have:

    • Supported their members’ understanding of politics
    • Promoted the study of politics on campus or beyond
    • Otherwise demonstrated the impact and success of the society

    The supporting statement may be written by either a member of the society or an academic based at the institution.

  • All nominations for Politics Society of the Year must be supported by a PSA member. This can either be an academic based at your society's institution or an individual student member of the PSA (self-nomination is permitted).
