  • Expectations

TechReport develops and delivers thoughtful and relevant content that has been created by business owners for other business owners.

Writers are expected to contribute at least one post per month with the following criteria:

    1. Every piece must offer a valuable answer to this question: "Is this post helping someone make a better purchasing decision?" or "Is this post helping me become a better person?" If you're struggling to answer this question, write about something else.

    2. Your reader is generally a 25 to 55-something business owner in the business world. Your reader might be in San Francisco, NYC, Shanghai, or Lagos - this is a global audience - but regardless, the readership has a life outside of work, too.

    3. Posts require a length of 1200-3500 English words. Break up your piece with paragraphs, headings, and images.

    4. Pieces must be original. Offer value from experience or research, and say something new. Republishing existing posts to TechReport is a no-go: if you set off our plagiarism checker, we'll ban you for life for writing for our publication.

    5. Offer a fresh perspective, replicable strategy, or compelling story around any of our themes; hardware, PC, software, reviews, gaming, saas, startup.
