• The Youth Small Business Program is now accepting applications!

    Like a beginner’s business school, our Youth Small Business Program can help jump–start your idea and make it a reality. Designed to help youth aged 16 to 29 launch or grow a small business, this program is an opportunity to learn foundational business and financial skills through virtual in-person workshops and entrepreneurship coaching that will help you develop the confidence to run a successful business.

    In addition: 

    • Participants will be eligible for a $500 award upon successful completion of the program.
    • Those without access to a computer will be provided with a laptop.
    • Graduates may be able to obtain a loan from Rise to start or expand a business.

    Candidates Qualifications 

    Applicants for this program should have all the following characteristics: 

    • Have a practical idea to start or grow your own for-profit, small business (any size, either full or part time/seasonal opportunities are welcome), and be looking to start this within the next 12 months.
    • Commit to attend all course sessions and submit all assignments.
    • Self-identify as having experienced a mental health or addiction challenges.
    • Be between the ages of 16 and 29.
    • Be a resident of Ontario

    We will need to collect personal information from you to determine whether to make you a loan, and if we do make you a loan, to administer that loan and collect the loan from you if you fail to pay us. The information we collect may include your name, birth date, home address, financial status, bank account details for payments, your business plan and ideas for use of this loan, and medical information about you.
     

    We will use your personal information for the following purposes:
     
    • Process your submitted application;
    • To administer your loan;
    • Build relationships, facilitate networking opportunities and match entrepreneurs like you with mentors;
    • Assist with administrative or technical support of your loan and business;
    • Gather opinion and feedback through surveys;
    • Comply with Canadian legal and regulatory requirements;
    • Maintain statistical and record keeping operations.  
     
    Y our personal information may be collected, used or disclosed for any of the identified proposes set out above. We will not use or disclose it for other purposes without obtaining additional consent from you.

    Please note that your consent is necessary for us to process your loan application and administer this loan if advanced to you. You may withdraw your consent at any time upon reasonable written notice, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Please note that the withdrawal of consent will affect our ability to provide you with the products and services that you would like to receive.

    To achieve the identified purposes listed above, your personal information may be shared with third parties such as government or industry agencies, our bank processing your payments, mentors and advisors to your business, credit reporting agencies, insurers, financial products dealers and financial institutions.  

    Sometimes you may be working with a referral agency to help you prepare your business plan and start up your business.

    2. Credit Reporting Law Notice

    If you are applying for a loan, Rise Asset Development requires you to obtain and provide to us an Equifax Credit Report and Credit Score that is dated no more than three months prior to our Investment Committee meeting date. That credit report and score will be considered by our Investment Committee as part of their review process for your loan application in deciding whether to lend you funds.
     

    3. Canada’s Anti Spam Law  

    From time to time Rise Asset Development may wish to send you e-mails as part of administration of your loan or provide advice to your business. We also send out group e-mails providing information such as program updates, event information or other information of interest to our clients.
