• Coaching Application and Agreement

  • All Coaches interested in being appointed into a Coaching position with Ellenbrook Dockers JFC must complete this application and declaration in full. Please note appointments (once confirmed) are for a period of 1 YEAR ONLY. As per Ellenbrook Dockers JFC By-laws all positions are automatically declared vacant at the end of each and every season.

    This application is the required form for applicants wishing to apply to coach an Ellenbrook Dockers JFC team, including Auskick, Modified and Youth teams in both boys and girls competitions.

    Requirements

    The Ellenbrook Dockers JFC’s objective is to provide an environment for all of our players that:

    • Continually develops their skills
    • Maximises their participation on game day
    • Allows them to have fun with their mates
    • Is aligned with and meets the standards of the club’s Code of Conduct and Policies

    While, the club will select the best possible coaches to create this environment, it is a requirement for all appointed coaches to achieve (at a minimum) Level One accreditation for the group they are coaching (Junior / Youth).

    All coaches and assistants are expected to complete their Coach.AFL accreditation within two weeks of the appointment. The Club will facilitate and cover costs for successful completion of these Entry level courses. The club strongly encourages Coaches to further and continually educate themselves wherever possible. Requests for Financial assistance to complete additional training requires prior approval through the Coach Coordinator and the Committee.

  • All Coaches at the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC acknowledge and agree to abide and uphold the Policies, Rules and Bylaws of the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC and the Affiliated Association of the game we participate. In particular, in regards to the Sprint of the Game, Codes of Conduct and Equal Opportunity Requirements. 

  • Spirit Of Junior Football

    (Competition By-Laws)

    Every participant understands that Football in Western Australia is delivered to the Community with the Spirit of the Game in mind.


    It is incumbent on every participant irrespective of their place in the game, to ensure that they will;


    1.1. Not focus on winning at all costs and understand that the role of Junior & Youth Football is
    to foster the development of players, volunteers, umpires, coaches and officials. Learning to
    win and lose is part of the developmental journey of a participant but must remain secondary
    to the primary focus of player development.
    1.2 Maximise the enjoyment and development of Junior & Youth footballers.
    1.3 Provide our children with a game environment that is safe, fun and fair.
    1.4 Ensure that the values which add to the spirit of our game, which include fairness, equality,
    respect and teamwork are encouraged and celebrated.
    1.5 Uphold, promote and protect the Rules, Laws, Codes, Policies and Spirit of the game.
    1.6 Not accept poor behaviours around our game and deter practices that undermine our games
    environments (coaching, playing, volunteering, spectating and umpiring).
    1.7 Adhere to any directive issued by the games controlling bodies in the best interests of
    achieving the above.
    1.8 Coaches should adopt an athlete centred coaching philosophy.

  • Coaches are obliged to understand and adhere to the True Sport – Coaches Code of Conduct as set out in the WAFC Competition By-laws. A failure to adhere to these requirements may see Coaching accreditation revoked.

    True Sport - Coaches Code of Conduct

    1. SPIRIT OF JUNIOR FOOTBALL

    • ALL coaches must understand and adhere to BYLAW #1 ‘The Spirit of Junior Football’ 

    2. #HAVEFUN

    • Ensure that players are involved in a positive environment where skill learning and
      development are priorities and are not overshadowed by a desire to win.

    3. #BESAFE

    • Be supportive at all times and refrain from any form of personal abuse or unnecessary physical contact with the players in your care.
    • Stress and monitor safety always.
    • In recognising the significance of injury and sickness, your will seek and follow the physician’s advice concerning the return of injured, concussed or ill players to training.
    • Keep informed regarding sound principles of coaching and skill development, and of factors relating to the welfare of your players.

    4. #BEHEALTHLY

    • Be reasonable in the demands you make on the time commitments of the players in your care, having due consideration for their health and well-being.
    • Have due consideration for varying maturity and ability levels of your players when designing practice schedule, practice activities and involvement in competition.

    5. #PLAYFAIR

    • Abide by and teach the AFL Laws of the Game and the Rules of your Club, District and
      League/Association.
    • Display and teach appropriate sporting behaviour at all times, ensuring that players understand and practise fair play.
    • Reject the use of performance enhancing substances in sport and abide by the guidelines set forth in the AFL Drug Policy.

    6. #SHOWRESPECT

    • Display and foster respect for umpires, opponents, coaches, administrators, other officials, parents and spectators.

    7. #INCLUDEALL

    • Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all individuals within the context of your involvement in Australian Football, including refraining from any discriminatory practices on the basis of race, religion, ethnic background, or special ability/disability.
    • Avoid overplaying the talented players aiming to maximise participation and enjoyment for all players regardless of ability. When responsible for players in the 5-18-year-old age group, strive to ensure that all players gain equal playing time.

     

  • Coaches are obliged to understand and adhere to the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC – Coaches Code of Conduct as set out by the club and the WAFC Competition By-laws. A failure to adhere to these requirements may see my position revoked.

  • Ellenbrook Dockers JFC Coaches Code of Conduct

    I hereby commit to uphold the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC Managers Code of Conduct, Constitution, Bylaws and all Policies of the Ellenbrook Docker’s Junior Football Club and the Affiliated Council.

    1.           I understand that as an integral component of my accreditation, I must maintain a standard of behaviour and conduct in the best interests of the game and the players/staff in my care and the club.

     

    2.           In representing myself in an honest manner, and without bringing the coaching profession, the Game or the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC into disrepute, I will endeavour to uphold the following to the best of my ability:

    2.1            I will respect the rights, dignity and worth of all individuals within the context of my involvement in Australian Football, by refraining from any discriminatory practices including, but not limited to, discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender, ethnic background, special ability/disability or sexual orientation, preference or identity.

    2.2            I will abide by and teach the AFL Laws of the Game and the Rules of my Club and League/Association.

    2.3            I will be reasonable in the demands I make on the time commitments of the players in my care, having due consideration for their health and wellbeing.

    2.4            I will be supportive at all times and I will refrain from any form of personal or physical abuse or unnecessary physical contact with the players, parents or Club Officials.

    2.5            I will ensure my team players, families and spectators abide by the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC Code of Conduct Policy. I will report any breaches in this policy to the Club at the conclusion of the game and will submit a Code of Conduct Breach Incident Report within 24 hours. If you believe the opposition is in breach of the Affiliated Councils Code of Conduct a report needs to be submitted to the Club within 24 hours. Report to be emailed to gameday@ellenbrookdockers.com.

    2.6            I will have due consideration for varying maturity and ability levels of my players when designing practice schedules, practice activities and involvement in competition.

    2.7            Where I am responsible for players in the 5 -18 year old age group, I will strive to ensure that all players gain equal playing time. I will avoid overplaying the talented players, aiming to maximise participation, learning and enjoyment for all players regardless of ability.

    2.8            I will stress and monitor safety always.

    2.13        I will ensure that players are involved in a positive environment where skill-learning and development are priorities and not overshadowed by a desire to win.

    2.14        I reject the use of performance-enhancing substances in sport and will abide by the guidelines set forth in the AFL Anti-Doping and Illicit Drugs policies.

    2.15        I will ensure only registered and financial players take the field.

    2.16        I will ensure my team meets all rosters/duties required by the club each week in a fair manner following the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC Volunteering Policy.

    2.17        I will ensure the Team Manager report any injuries that occur as soon as possible to the club Coaching Coordinator, President and Registrar as outlined in the Management of Injuries and Medical Emergency Policy.  I will ensure I submit a written incident report to the club within 24 hours. I will follow up any paperwork and email the registrar any medical clearances before allowing players to return to training or a game. Report to be emailed to gameday@ellenbrookdockers.com.

    2.18        I will encourage all players to attend games in club uniform as outlined in the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC Dress Code Policy.

    2.19        I will monitor and report to a Club Coaching Coordinator any inappropriate posts and comments on team social media pages. I will follow the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC Communication, Images and Social Media Policy.

     

    3.           I agree to the following terms:

    3.1            I agree to abide by the AFL Coaches’ Code of Conduct.

    3.2            I agree to abide by the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC Managers Code of Conduct, Constitution, Bylaws and all Policies of the Ellenbrook Docker’s Junior Football Club and the Affiliated Council.

    3.3            I acknowledge that the AFL, the Club or a body affiliated with the AFL, may take disciplinary action against me if I breach the code of conduct. I understand that the AFL the Club, or a body affiliated with the AFL, is required to implement a complaints handling procedure in accordance with the principles of natural justice, in the event of an allegation against me.

    3.4            I acknowledge that disciplinary action against me may include but not limited to suspension, dismissal from position at the Club or deregistration from the AFL National Coaching Accreditation Scheme.

    3.5            Note: This Coaches’ Code of Conduct is to be signed on appointment of the position and conformed to as part of the accreditation requirements of the AFL and the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC. Coaches should be aware that, in addition to this Code, they may be obliged to sign a further Code of Conduct/Ethics with their Club and/or League.

It is a legal requirement that we check the background of each person over 18 years of age, who works, Coaches, Manages or has regular unsupervised contact with children and young people under the age of 18.   • All Non-parent volunteers are required to complete and hold a valid Working with Children Card. Should an applicant not currently hold a WWC Check, he or she will be required to submit an application prior to working at the Club. Information on how to obtain your WWC Check is available at https://workingwithchildren.wa.gov.au/. 

    Upon provision of a valid receipt to the treasurer, treasurer@ellenbrookdockers.com fees associated with obtaining the WWC Check (as a volunteer) will be re-imburst in full by the club.

  • I Declare that:


    1. I am aware of my obligations under the Member Protection Policy issued by the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC. (Policy available for viewing at www.ellenbrookdockers.com)
    2. I do not have any criminal charges pending before the courts.
    3. I do not have any criminal convictions or findings of guilt for sexual offences, offences related to children or acts of violence.
    4. I have not had any disciplinary proceedings bought against me by an employer, sporting organisation or similar body involving child abuse, sexual misconduct or harassment, or other form of harassment or acts of violence.
    5. To my knowledge there is no matter that the Ellenbrook Dockers JFC may consider constituting a risk to its members, employees, volunteers, athletes or reputation by engaging me in a paid or voluntary position.
    6. I will notify the President of the Club immediately upon becoming aware that any matters set out in numbers 2 to 5 above have changed.
