SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA
Secondary Education/Trade Scholarship
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be a Black or Hispanic/Latinx female
- Must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 grade point average
- Must be a high school senior with plans to attend secondary education (university or college) or a trade school *Must be at least 16 years old if in a GED/vocational program
- A copy of the most current transcript must be uploaded to the form or mailed to our address.
- Upload a photo of you (show us your personality)
- Complete a 500-1,000 word essay
Young Entrepreneur Scholarship
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be a Black or Hispanic/Latinx female
- Must be in good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 grade point average
- Must be age 12-18
- Must upload a 3-minute video pitch and/or a 500-1,000 word essay
- Upload a photo of you (A picture showing us you in business helps!)
- A copy of your current transcript uploaded or mailed to our address
ESSAY REQUIREMENTS - ALL SCHOLARSHIPS
The essay must be typed and double-spaced (if uploaded via the online form).
Please choose one of the following:
- State three goals you plan to reach in your educational goals. What support system will you incorporate into your plan that will help you achieve your goals? (ex: family, friends, mentors, organizations, etc.)
- Personal Statement - "Your personal statement should be exactly that, personal. This is your opportunity to tell us about yourself your hopes, ambitions, life experiences, inspirations. We encourage you to take your time on this assignment. Be open. Be reflective. Find your individual voice and express it honestly."
- Explain how will you spend the $500 for your education, trade, or business.
- BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIP PITCH (Included in essay): Your pitch should include:
- What your business is
- Who it serves, and what problem it is solving
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
One (1) letter of recommendation must be submitted via email mail from a school professional and/or community leader (principal, counselor, teacher, mentor, tutor, etc.). The letter of recommendation should be a brief statement describing the student's character and motivation toward success. letters should be emailed to (scholarship@iamtheroseproject.org)
DEADLINE
The application must be submitted via the online form by Sunday, March 20th, 2021 at 11:59 PM CST. The transcript, essays, and letter of recommendation (and paper application if you wish) must be postmarked by Friday, March 20, 2021, and mailed to the below address. Late/incomplete applications will not be accepted.
