Riverfront lights 2020 6min.mp4
To all the contestants in the 3rd annual best decorated home contest: We really enjoyed seeing all the beautiful lighted homes and families Saturday evening. We were greeted with so much hospitality and Christmas cheer. While all of the homes were beautiful, our judges scored each one and the top homes are as follows:
First place for the detatched homes goes to Paula and Glen Therrien. Paula and Glen illuminated Spinnaker Cove Court using an eclectic mix of tradition, fun, and beauty in their 2020 Christmas landscape. A total of 26 trees around the property stood centerstage and adorned each window of their home and within the three scenes in the front yard. Scenes included an 8-foot reindeer, a Covid-safe Santa wearing a mask, and lighted presents and packages. Glowing lanterns of ornaments and cranberries outlined the driveway. Candy canes, ceramic Santas and abundant lighting trimmed the walkways and stairs. Traditional wreaths of evergreen and Holly berries hung from the front door and the roof was topped with white lights. The judges unanimously chose their home for First place with 141 points. Congratulations Paula and Glen. 6034 Spinnaker Cove Court.
Second place with 110 points goes to Rex Harrison of 5101 Sunrise Court. This home featured abundant lighting trimming the home in a darling Christmas theme with Santa hanging from a window while the Grinch stood close by holding the lamp post. The pool and fence in the back yard were decorated with large glowing colored balls floating about. A full screen projector and screen stood in the driveway playing The Grinch who Stole Christmas. Well done to the Harrison family.
Third place was a 2-way tie between the Moss family at 5109 W. Creek Court and the Butler family at 6011 Spinnaker Cove Court with 108 points. The Moss home was decorated with “HO HO” lights in the front yard and the "major award" leg lamp in the top floor window while a live size Santa stood and waved from the next window. The door was beautifully decorated and the illuminated yard lights were full of fun.
The Butler home at 6011 Spinnaker Cove Court was classy with white icicles cascading from the tree in the front, the driveway illuminated with lights, wreaths in all the front windows with back yard trees all lit up with a trimmed shed and wreath on its door. The front door entrance wins for its unique style and beauty. Congratulations to both of these families.
Honorable mentions go to 6502 Harbour Pointe Drive, the Sutton family. This home had class and originality in their decor with a butterfly bench and lighted gifts at the foot with a lit deer standing near. A red accented tree set this home off underneath a beautifully decorated wreath. This beautiful home received 101 points.
Also included as honorable mentions include 5119 West Creek Court, the Wood family with 90 points; 3031 N. James Drive with 90 points and 6514 Harbour Pointe Drive of the Hunter family with 83 points.
All of the judges loved the little girl at 5002 Shoal Creek Drive, the Willard home, who delivered a letter to the lighted mailbox in the front yard as the judges scored the home.
Attached best decorated home goes to the Boyle family at 126 Beacon Run. This home was nicely decorated with 2 deck scenes, music, a decorated door and porch. Nicely done.
I will contact each of the winners and make arrangements to bring your prizes in the next day or so.
We are working on a slide show presentation with all of the homes and will post it soon on the website, and social media sites. I hope you all enjoyed this event as much as we did. Thank you for all the warm greetings and participation this Christmas. We will host this event again in 2021. God Bless you. Happy Holidays and have a Merry Christmas.
