Technology & Equipment Loan Request

Loaner Laptop Program Status:
Waitlist for Fall 2024

Applications will continue to be accepted and laptops awarded as they become available.
If you are in need of a laptop for Fall semester, we cannot guarantee that one will become available.
Requests are processed in the order received.

 

The purpose of the Technology/Equipment Loaner Request Form is to identify and evaluate the student’s technological needs that are not currently being met but are necessary for success in a course. The situation of each student is handled individually, on a case-by-case basis, and the eligibility requirements are as follows:

• Must be currently enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours at York Technical College.
• Must be completing your program this summer OR currently registered for both summer and fall terms; visiting students must be enrolled in at least nine (9) credit hours total for the summer or fall semester.
• Have a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file

Please be very descriptive in your response to minimize delay in processing this request.

Should a webcam be approved, I agree to the following: 
 

• I understand that I may use this webcam until the last day of class for the requested term, provided I am actively enrolled and attending class. The expected return date will be specified upon approval of this request.
  • If I withdraw/drop/stop attending class, my webcam must be returned to the College on or before the day I stopped attending class.

Students who do not return the webcam to the College on or before the expected return date may be contacted by our Campus Police Chief and will be billed for unreturned College equipment, as outlined below.

• I accept full responsibility for the webcam I am borrowing.
• I will reimburse York Technical College for the cost of repairing or replacing this if it is damaged, lost, stolen, or not returned while checked out in my name.
• If a webcam is lost or stollen, damaged, or non-functional, the student is responsible for the replacement cost of $75.
• If the webcam stops working, I will immediately contact the Institute for Teaching Excellence at ite@yorktech.edu or 803-981-7245.
• I understand that failure to return the webcam on the designated date will be considered theft of York Technical College property and appropriate action will be taken. I may be contacted by the Campus Police Chief and I will be billed for the unreturned College equipment.
• I understand that I am not to perform any illegal activities with this webcam or any activities inconsistent with the York Technical College Code of Conduct.  
• I understand that if I perform any illegal activities or any activities that violate the YTC Code of Conduct, I will be subject to the disciplinary rules and regulations of York Technical College.

• I accept full responsibility for the laptop, computer, and accessories I am borrowing.
• I will reimburse York Technical College for the cost of repairing or replacing this laptop and/or accessories if they are damaged, lost, stolen, or not returned while checked out in my name.
• If a laptop is lost or stolen, I am responsible for the replacement cost of $1,400.
• If the power supply is not returned, I am responsible for the replacement cost of no less than $65.
• If a laptop is damaged during use, I am  responsible for the cost of repairs. An additional laptop will not be available to me unitl the cost of repairs are paid for the damaged laptop.
• If all parts and accessories are not working when the laptop is received, I will immediately contact the York Technical College Help Desk at YTCWebsupport@yorktech.edu or 803-981-7111.
• I understand that failure to return the laptop, power cord, and any accessories on the designated date will be considered theft of York Technical College property and appropriate action will be taken. I may be contacted by the Campus Police Chief and I will be billed for the unreturned College equipment.
• I understand that I am not to perform any illegal activities with this laptop (i.e., hacking, pirating, downloading illegal materials, etc.) or any activities inconsistent with the York Technical College Code of Conduct. 
• I understand that if I perform any illegal activities or any activities that violate the YTC Code of Conduct, I will be subject to the disciplinary rules and regulations of York Technical College.
• I understand that everything, except for the preloaded programs, will be deleted when the machine is returned.

 

STUDENT COPY LAPTOP LOAN RIDER

• I agree that York Technical College shall not have any liability for claims relating to the loss, damage or interception of any information, data, work product, or other material viewed, searched or stored on the laptop or its accessories.

• I agree that York Technical College shall not have any liability for any claims relating to the use or functioning of the hardware or software included with the borrowed laptop and accessories.
