    IMPORTANT INFORMATION (Please Read)

    1)  PLEASE COMPLETE OUR ONLINE APPLICATION

    2) Check your Inbox for Welcome Email (coming from horses4heroes@gmail.com)

    3) Attend Scheduled Volunteer Onboarding/Training Session Our availability changes from week to week, we will let you know when we are available to meet with you.

    4) Complete Background Check.  Horses4Heroes requires a background check on all volunteers.  If you are currently a First Responder, teacher, healthcare professional/worker or Active Duty and/or you have completed a background check within the last THREE years with your employer, agency or another non-profit please let us know.  We may ask for a copy for our files.  Volunteers under 18 must have parent or guardian permission.  The Background Check is $19.  Horses4Heroes will send you a link and a GOOD DEED CODE to initiate your background check.  Information received in a Background Check is confidential and will not be shared with team members or other volunteers.  We cannot pay for your background check.  You must first attend an onboarding session before your background check.  If you choose not to comply with the background check requirement, there is no need to attend the onboarding session.

    5)  Conflict of Interest and Social Media Policy:  All adult volunteers are required to sign our Conflict of Interest and Social Media Policy.  We will send you a copy to review.  If you choose not to sign, we understand and thank you for your interest in volunteering with Horses4Heroes.  

    5)      SIGN UP:  Shifts/Hours:  Let us know what Day of the week and Time you would like to volunteer.  Some volunteers prefer a specific day and time, others pick and choose from week to week.  We are open Tuesday-Saturday.  Seasonal camps are often Monday-Friday.  Shifts are or can be AM/PM or all day.  AM/PM times vary from weekday to weekend.  We send out a weekly schedule and we highlight activities like field trips, birthday parties and Girl Scouts.  Weekday mornings we are not very busy so your duties might be ranch chores (mucking stalls, filling waters, etc.) or staffing events or workshops.  Email horses4heroes@gmail.com to let us know when you can help us.

    Volunteer duties include:  RSA, Wrangler, Ranch Hand and Desk Jockey.  RSAs (Ride/Ranch Staff Assistants) are professionals who are willing to offer their expertise to our non-profit in trade for services, which may include a lesson, riding time or free camps for your kids.  We are looking for professionals who can serve as riding instructors, camp directors, or help us as bookkeepers, graphic artists, marketing professionals, and fund-raisers/grant writers.)  For more information email horses4heroes@gmail.com.  

    Volunteers who work at least two, four-hour shifts in a month will be invited to our free, end-of-month Volunteer Appreciation event.  

    Teens/tweens under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.  Teens 14 and older can sign up as a Junior Volunteer and may be eligible to volunteer as a Junior Camp Counselor.
