Students who excel (i.e. competing or performing at county, national or international level) in an area of the co-curriculum, not on the main New Hall curriculum, may apply for a Special Talent Co-Curriculum (Upper School) Award. Candidates can only apply for an award in one activity and the award is subject to review at the end of each academic year.
Candidates will be expected to talk about their special talent during their interview. A separate assessment to demonstrate a special talent may also be required; this will be advised nearer the time.
Candidates are required to submit a portfolio of achievements and a written report from their coach or teacher explaining their training, ability and potential by Monday 11 January 2021. It would be helpful if you would submit a recording of the candidate performing his/her activity. Please note that we can only consider talents that are linked to the areas of dance or sport. Examples of relevant activities are Dance, Fencing, Figure Skating, Golf, Riding, Sailing, Skiing.
Should any video recordings feature other participants, please liaise with your coach to seek the relevant permission from other parents/guardians. Any videos received by New Hall School will be held securely in accordance with our Data policies.
Due to the size of the recorded files, please transfer the video to support a Co-Curriculum Award application via wetransfer using the attached link: https://wetransfer.com. Through wetransfer, please email the file to admissions@newhallschool.co.uk. In the message box, please include your child’s name and current school.
Students will be asked to provide ongoing evidence of their special talent. The student in receipt of a Special Talent Co-Curriculum Award will be expected to represent the School in their area of expertise. Should a student stop playing the relevant sport, then the award will cease from the following term.
