The Alliance is seeking social media advocates for Museums Advocacy Day 2021, taking place virtually Feb. 22-23, to help amplify critical advocacy messages and policy information, and engage advocates around the country in speaking up for museums. We are excited to introduce this opportunity for social media advocate participation throughout the month of February, to accompany Museums Advocacy Day 2021.
We will evaluate applications based on the following criteria:
- Social media experience and presence across platforms
- Understanding of and interest in field-wide advocacy for museums
- Innovative ideas for generating engagement in advocacy materials and tools provided and posted by AAM during and surrounding the event
If you are selected to be an AAM social media advocate, you will benefit from:
- Complimentary registration for Museums Advocacy Day 2021
- Increased visibility for your feeds and posts during Museums Advocacy Day 2021 through amplification on AAM feeds and the use of #MuseumsAdvocacy2021
- A $150 honorarium (to be paid upon completion of responsibilities after Feb. 28th)
AAM social media advocates must participate virtually in Museums Advocacy Day 2021 on February 22 and 23, as well as any indicated pre- and post-event calls and programming. You will be expected to follow any #MuseumsAdvocacy2021 social media guidelines provided by AAM before, during, and following Museums Advocacy Day 2021.
As a social media advocate, you will be asked to:
- Participate in a pre-conference training call, and pre-event programming for participating advocates and attendees
- Participate in Museums Advocacy Day programming and Congressional meetings (scheduled by AAM), taking place virtually Feb. 22-23
- Be an active social media advocate throughout Museums Advocacy Day programming (Feb. 22) and Congressional meetings (Feb. 23), following all social media advocate guidelines provided. No fewer than 8 posts/day (either 8 posts on Twitter or to your Instagram story and 1 additional post to either Instagram, LinkedIn, or Facebook). AAM may request that you attend certain sessions or events based on your interest and AAM's needs.
- From February 1-21: Actively post about your upcoming participation in Museums Advocacy Day 2021 and share and amplify Museums Advocacy Day posts from AAM sharing relevant issue and advocacy information – at least 2/week, across Twitter and 1 other platform
- From February 24-28: Share your post-event feedback as requested and continue sharing and posting post-event – at least 2 posts, post-event, on Twitter and 1 other platform
Applications are due by January 6, 2021. You will be notified as to the status of your application by January 13, 2021. Questions? Contact Ember Farber at efarber@aam-us.org.
