The Red Rock Dance Festival is hosting the 13th annual Choreography Showcase held in lovely St. George Utah. The showcase offers choreographers an opportunity to show up to 10 minutes of work on a professional stage utilizing an experienced lighting designer and production staff. Each dance piece will be adjudicated by outstanding dance professionals and educators starting at 12:30pm on June 12th. Eight to ten finalists will be selected to perform that evening for the 7:30pm Showcase Performance. Both Judge's Choice and Audience Choice choreographers will be awarded a $500 cash prize! Submit your work!
Choreographers:
Dance pieces should be new works, no longer than 10 minutes. Movement should be original and nontraditional. Works submitted are subject to a selection process and should represent the highest quality. Choreographers are responsible for their own rehearsal space and arranging their own costumes. Choreographers must be able to commit to attending a 30 minute technical rehearsal on Thursday, June 10th, Friday, June 11th, or Saturday, June 12th. Typically Saturday is reserved only for those traveling the furthest distance. You will have the opportunity to request a tech time. You must be able to attend the adjudicated performance at 12:30pm where finalists are selected. Only the finalists will perform at 7:30pm that evening in the Showcase Performance. Please submit a rehearsal video as soon as it becomes available. The submission deadline is midnight on Friday, April 30th.
Dancers:
Dancers should be age 16 or older, have modern/contemporary dance experience, and most importantly, be reliable and efficient. Dancers must be able to commit to attending the technical rehearsal, adjudication, and if selected, the evening performance.
