Consignment Terms
Inventory:
Before dropping off inventory, we ask that you provide a few things for us.
1) A complete inventory sheet of what you are bringing. This should include your brand name, date of drop-off, description of each item, price, and quantity of each item.
2) Attached consignment form, please fill it out and bring it with you.
3) Artist statement, telling a little about yourself as an artist. We love to share about you, your story, inspiration. This helps clients connect to our artists.
4) History/description of techniques and materials used for your work.
5) We also ask that products come ready to be displayed including but not limited to hanging tabs, cello sleeves (sealed), etc. If you have a display stand you would like to bring in, please send images of the stand to us for approval prior to drop-off.
Inventory drop off should be anytime during store hours. Due to limited space in our recieving area, please bring your product in a disposable container such as a cardboard box. If you choose to bring product in a box such as a plastic tote, please ensure it is labeled with your brand name, first & last name, and contact info so we can coordinate a pick-up date. We will notify artists when it is time to restock. Please provide an updated inventory list for restock, it helps us add your product to inventory and merchandise it more quickly.
Hours: Sunday - Thursday: 10a-8p, Friday - Saturday: 10a-10p
Pricing:
The Workroom employs a 60/40 split, where the artist receives 60% of the retail price. Consignment artists are expected to price items to accommodate retail being priced up to a 20% discount. On Second Saturdays we partner with a variety of other local businesses and offer 15% off to customers with Second Saturday bags. Additionally, we offer a designer discount program which is an essential part of our business model and it is important that a 20% designer discount is applicable on all products offered at The Workroom. (This means if retail on an item is marked at $100, the artist receives $60 unless the item is sold to a designer, in which case, the designer retail is $80 and the artist receives $48). If you would like any guidance on pricing, feel free to ask!
Display:
Any special instructions for display should be noted. Artists are encouraged to bring in new artwork. We would like to keep consignment items on display for an average of 90 days, at which time we can re-evaluate pricing, product selection and revise consignment terms. We hope to make mutually beneficial agreements with all of our artists, the agreement may be cancelled by either party at any time.
Payment:
Checks are mailed to the artist after the end of each month. We will provide you with an itemized list of product sold, and any items sold at a discounted price will be noted. In the event that an artist payment is less than $10, the amount will roll over to the following month and be combined with that payment.
Liability:
The Workroom is not liable for loss or damage to any consigned artwork from the drop-off date, until the pieces are picked up by the artists. If artwork is shipped and damaged during transit, the artist will be notified but the costs will not be covered by The Workroom. The store does not provide any amount of insurance for artwork. Artists are responsible for any and all repairs needed to the artwork if needed during it’s display time.
Artist Opportunities:
We host First Friday art shows at The Workroom, and we feature artists that consign at The Workroom. Second Saturday's we feature our makers. We work hard to promote individual artists & makers prior to these events via social media, local publications, free community calendars, and our monthly newsletter.
Removal of Artwork:
If artwork is removed at any time from The Workroom, the following procedure is used to maintain an accurate inventory:
1) A Workroom Shopkeeper must be made aware of the removal of your artwork.
2) The item(s) must be recorded on the artistʼs inventory sheet as removed.
Social Media:
By signing you give permission to The Workroom to utilize your web/social media information and photography to promote your art or business.
We look forward to helping spread the word about your work and are excited to have you as part of The Workroom family!
