SongHubs is a week long song-writing program to be held at The Arts Centre in Christchurch from Monday 22 March to Friday 26 March 2021. Each day our curator (Delaney Davidson) will assign you a different group to write a song with. This group will consist of one of our guests, a producer, a 'lead' songwriter (for whom you're writing a song), and one other songwriter. These groups will each inhabit a separate studio space for the day.
Each songwriter will get the opportunity to be a 'lead' songwriter at least once, and will work with different guests during the week.
You also have the opportunity to work with a Mātanga Reo if you want to work in te reo Māori and would like specialist guidance.
A NOTE ABOUT OWNERSHIP
At SongHubs, ownership of all songs is split equally between the creators in the room. We collect this information as each song is written.
The demo recording and demo stems are made available after SongHubs is finished, for participants' continued reference, and to facilitate the development of the songs.
However, any further/additional production work - and the use of SongHubs stems in a finished recording - needs to be negotiated independently with the producer of the track.
