The mission of Life Changes, Inc. is "Providing safety, shelter, and support to individuals affected by substance abuse, incarceration, mental illness, homelessness and domestic violence."
Life Changes, Inc, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit commnity based organization was founded in 2010. Life Changes, Inc. is a Level II Sober Living Home as defined by the National Alliance for Recovery Residences. (NARR). The Life Changes team focuses on five key elements for successfull community integration - long-term housing, family, healthcare, employment, substance abuse/mental health.
Community support is a critical aspect of achieving and maintaining recovery and ceasing criminal activity in any setting and especially so at Life Changes. Life Changes encourages a support network of non-substancing abusing friends and family, peers with lived experience, trained recovery housing staff, outsourced clinical support and acces to community resources as an essential element of helping residents maintain recovery and a crime free lifestyle.
The Life Changes social model approach emphasizes interaction among residents in a shared living space and mutually beneficial relations between the sober living home and the surrounding community. Likewise, many residents of the Life Changes program enter the facility from a shared housing experience such as incarceration, an inpatient treatment program, shelter or from a homeless situation. The goal of all Life Changes programs is to help the resident achieve and sustain long-term recovery/sobriety, cease criminal activity, reunify with the family and become financiall stable. The Life Changes team empowers residents to develop management skills that will not only assist them during their initial stabilization period, but also to achieve the creative potential in their continuing recovery to design their own solutions.
