These tests require special procedures to collect the baby’s specimens by an OB-GYN physician. The two most common procedures are Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS) or Amniocentesis. Both procedures are invasive and involve some risks to the fetus. We encourage our clients to consult with their OB-GYNs before moving forward. For more information, click here.
The CVS procedure is usually performed during the 10th and 13th week of pregnancy.
The Amniocentesis procedure is usually performed during the 14th and 24th week of pregnancy.
FOR NEW YORK STATE RESIDENTS
This service cannot be offered to cases where one of the participants is a resident of the state of New York unless the test has been recommended by a legal or medical entity via a court order or a doctor's prescription. Indeed, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) considers DNA testing as a medical exam.
