Learning Objectives
After having successfully completed Yoga m.a.g.i.c.’s Children’s Yoga Teacher Training trainees will be able to:
· Understand the fundamentals of growth and development of children
· Be able to accurately describe an average child’s mental and physical abilities from infancy to adolescents
· Know the major functions of the systems of the body (skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, circulatory, lymphatic, immune, & respiratory)
· Understand how yoga can help support the health and vitality of the body’ systems
· Become familiar with the subtle body and how energy affects our health and wellness
· Be able to design and implement a children’s a yoga class
· Will be able to include the foundational practices of Pranayama, Asana, Mindfulness, and Meditation in every children’s yoga class
· Accurately demonstrate asanas in a safe and effective manner
· Verbally cue poses in a clear and precise manner from which others can follow
· Know and lead a variety of pranayama practices
· Use concepts, stories, and media to construct age-appropriate yoga classes
· Use concepts, stories, and media to facilitate Mindful Lesson Practices
· Acquire and lead a variety of meditation techniques that are age-appropriate and interest appropriate for children
· Reference songs, chants, mantra, and affirmations that can be included into their children’s yoga classes
· Understand and be able to speak to the different structures and methods a children’s yoga teacher would use when teaching to children of various ages
· Explain and demonstrate why conducting oneself in an ethical manner protects the teacher and the yoga students
· Discuss how, after completing this training, one could use the information and knowledge to become employed as a children’s yoga teacher
