Transgender Justice Initiative Small Grants Program Application

Through our Transgender Justice Initiative, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRCF) is working with community-based activists across the country to combat stigma and discrimination and to advance meaningful solutions to the challenges facing transgender and non-binary community members. Through a national Justice and Advocacy Summit, which will be held online in March 2021, advocates will also have the chance to learn from and connect with each other as well as local and national stakeholders committed to advancing justice. In advance of this Summit, the HRC Foundation is introducing a new small grants opportunity for community members doing powerful work at the local level. Our goal is simple -- let's build ties between the community, HRC nationally, and local stakeholders who, together, can make a meaningful difference in the lives of transgender and non-binary people. A total of $30,000 will be awarded nationally, with awards of $1,000 each. Four grants per city will be available in TJI's 2021 spotlight cities: Atlanta, Cleveland, Dallas, Kansas City, New Orleans and Philadelphia. An additional six grants will be available nationally.

Grantees must describe collaborative work that they are leading to advance transgender justice in their cities in partnership with outside organizations (for example: trans-inclusive HIV testing events with their local health department; name change clinics with a law firm in their region; anti-bias training at emergency housing locations in their cities; or job fairs with local employers and/or city government Grantees must also be available to introduce their work at HRC's 2021 Justice and Advocacy Summit, which will be held online March 31, 2021.
