    Fauquier Community Theatre invites you to audition for Bad Auditions on Camera. The production will be rehearsed, produced, and presented online. Then the final show will be streamed on the weekend of February 20 and 21, 2021.
  • Plot Synopsis

    The Story: A casting director has one day to find an actor to fill the role of a lawyer in a crime procedural. But what seems like a simple task proves impossible when the pool of actors includes stage thespians who can't tone it down for the screen, performers completely unable to keep themselves in frame, and an actor who seems to believe this is a toothpaste commercial. Vote for who you think should get the role when you step behind the doors of a casting session in this hilarious comedy.
  • Roles

    The director of the show is Sonia Bronder who has the perfect combination of artistic and technical skills.. There are 13 available roles. Character Breakdown: Casting Director is on screen the whole show, with Roger showing up in-between auditions. The other 11 characters are auditioners who each have a short audition, about one page, and then a potential final scene if they are “cast” by audience votes. CASTING DIRECTOR - Female (30s - 50s) Under a lot of pressure, exasperated. ROGER - Male (20s - 30s) Assistant, over enthusiastic, go-getter. GINA MARIE - Female (30s) Stereotypical Staten Island mother of 13 year old arsonist. KELLIN - Open Gender (Open age) Over the top Shakespearean actor. TANDY - Open Gender (20s - 30s Intense and very energetic, must speak quickly intelligible and unintelligibly. JEFF - Male (20s - 30s) Has an attitude and is a TV Fanatic. CARMEN - Female (Late teens - early 20s) Social media influencer. GREG - Male (20s) Earnest but can’t stay in frame for his life. WENDY - Open Gender (Open age) Commercial actor. PHYLLIS - Open Gender (Open age) Amazing actor, thinks they are garbage. RORY - Open Gender (Open age) Serious actor, “oddly” dressed, but doesn’t think so. TOM - Male (50s - 60s) Roger’s dad, bad with technology, does community theater. UMA - Female (Open age) Amazing actress, off-book but gets words wrong, exhausted.
  • Location

    Auditions, callbacks, rehearsals and performances will be held virtually online. (Auditions are open to the public from the same local geographical locations as if the production was planned to be presented at Fauquier Community Theatre's location of Vint Hill in Warrenton, Virginia.)
  • Auditions - Date & Times

    Auditions will take place online via Zoom on Friday, January 8, 2021 from 7 pm to 10 pm and Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 7 pm to 10 pm. Signups are in one hour time slot increments. Please note that you will be sent an invitation to Zoom by the day before auditions. Those who cannot make auditions may send in a video submission of a monologue of 1 minute. At the beginning of the video, state your first and last name clearly. Please note that priority will be given to those who audition online and not by video submission. Auditions will consist of actors presenting a dramatic or comedic monologue of 1 minute and cold reading from the script.
  • Callbacks

    After auditions, callbacks will be by invitation only and will be held on Sunday, January 10 at 2 pm.

  • Rehearsals and Schedules

    Rehearsals will take place primarily on weeknights for two hours beginning at 7:00 pm. There may be an occasional rehearsal or performance recording on a weekend. Please LIST on your audition registration form below any prior commitments (regular or occasional) that may conflict with the rehearsal schedule.
  • Fauquier Community Theatre Policies

    Please note the following FCT policies:If you are cast in a role, there is an annual fee to participate in FCT productions which is $15 for youth, $25 for an adult or $50 for a family which includes all adults and children living in your immediate household. (This is the minimum; higher membership levels have extra benefits and are available.) Membership dues will be payable online after the cast list is final.Participation in this production is strictly voluntary and there is no compensation. The participant agrees to hold harmless and indemnify Fauquier Community Theatre - Story Painters, Inc., its Board of Directors, employees, and associated representatives from any and all claims, judgments or settlements resulting from the participant’s involvement in any rehearsals or performances of this show.
