ABIS Historical Hidden Figure

We have organized a movement and a campaign to recognize significant progress within Black history however, we recognize that there is still more work to be done. We need your help in pioneering these efforts on your campus. Here’s how you can get involved, it’s simple:

1. SELECT A HISTORICAL HIDDEN FIGURE. This can be a Black or Brown faculty, staff or athletic administrator from your campus who has made a significant impact in their sport for your school. Highlight that “Historical Hidden Figure” on your campus, through announcements, social media, mentions during games etc.

A recommendation for historical hidden figures can include the first African American player of your sport.

2. INFORM THE YOUTH. Select an elementary school and coordinate with the main office to set up a virtual book reading with a class. Read a Black history story to them to help educate them about their history.

3. JOIN THE CHALLENGE. Complete this form and challenge another institution/department to join.
